Antibiotic Tetracycline 15mg

Does anyone have experience with the antibiotic Tetracycline? I Adopted an Amazon not too long ago.. I took her in to my vet and the vet said she has slight congestion in her left lung. She is prescribed Tetracycline. Does anyone have experience in this antibiotic with their birds? I did some digging on and can’t find much other than it is good for gram negative and positive bacteria and is used to treat fish, fowl and parrots.

Tetracycline for a parrot is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, and the indications for use are as follows:

infectious diseases - psittacosis and tuberculosis;
diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

..also taking such an antibiotic may be appropriate in other situations, but only as directed by your veterinarian.

..before deciding to give antibiotics to the bird, it is worthwhile to thoroughly diagnose the condition of the parrot, since antibiotics are not always a panacea for all ills.

..such drugs involve a large list of contraindications and side effects, disrupt the work of the digestive system, and also negatively affect the liver.
