I just wanted everyone to know that Anna and I were back to her new home by about 3 CST. Like many of you I was becoming physically ill thinking what might happen to her.

She is doing amazingly well, a real sweetheart.

She is in somewhat rough shape but that is not the fault of the lady I got her from. A bird does not get in this condition in 3 days. So please if she ventures back stay off her back. She, just like a lot of people didn't fully realize what she was taking on. As to her room mate, I don't believe he would ever do what he was accused of.

This turned out alright for Anna and that is what counts.

I guess we will be seeing the Doc early next week and working on a better diet.

I'm going to set up a photo hosting account soon and will get pics.:)

I'm so so so glad to hear she is safe with you! Please let us know how she progresses and of course pictures!

Major TOM, you are our hero. Bless, bless BLESS you!
I can't find words... yet... but I am working on them!

This is the best news I have heard in ages. thank you not only for taking Anna in, but also for the way you handled this situation. You are truly an example to us all that it is all about the bird, and I can't say thank you enough for what you have done. You are amazing, and I am beyond grateful that you are a part of our community here.
Looking forward to updates!

From one Old Man to another Old Man... I am proud to know you and stated that your comforting approach to that exchange set the stage for Anna to be part of your home! Thank-you, for simply being that wonderful person who stepped forward. You are truly an example of simply doing it the right-way.

As an Amazon Snob and especially re-homed Amazons, I truly admire those who are willing to bring re-homed Too's into their homes!

I Salute You!

High praise indeed.

I did nothing but what anyone of you would have done.

I was in the right place at the right time. That is all it amounts to.

Thanks,
Dave

Thank-you for the update TiredOldMan! I'm glad to know Anna is in your hands. I was rather worried earlier what with the thread vanishing and such. I'm still not 100% sure what exactly was said, or what happened, but clearly Anna was proving rather problematic for her previous human. For a novice I can imagine this to have been a rather daunting and stressful situation. Glad you could help all involved.

Looking forward to reading of her progress and hopefully seeing some pictures of the illusive Anna :)

Thank you, Dave! You are Anna's hero and performed a magnificent act of compassion! Looking forward to seeing how this unfolds!!

Please post some photos soon so we can all track her progress...Thank you again buddy, means the world to me and everyone else...

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes and support.

She had a shower this morning. Seemed to really enjoy it. Hasn't touched the chop, quinoa, or beans. Ate a small piece of banana(my vet doesn't like them but I figure it's better to have her eat something), a little bit of all natural peanut butter, and you won't believe it but some Roudybush pellets. As soon as she starts eating those pellets good I will make the switch to Harrisons. I dislike wasting Harrisons.

Thanks Again,
Dave

WOW! That's amazing, a shower! Awesome! Is she stepping-up for you? She must be thrilled to be in your home! And if she's already willing to eat ANY pellets then you're already half-way-home as far as food goes...Banana's are definitely better than nothing! She's probably not ever seen beans or chop, and definitely has not seen quinoa, lol...

It sounds like she's definitely a sweetie that just needs some time and some love, which she's finally getting...thank you so much again!

I am so glad to hear of this news and that you were able to take in Anna, sounds like she is doing better now. So glad!

This thread warms my heart. I'm so happy to see that Anna has won the lottery and found a new home with you.

Dave, it's been said quite a few times already, but it bears repeating. You handled this situation with class, compassion and humility, and both your words and actions represented this forum at its best. Thank you.

I'm overjoyed that Anna seems to be acclimating so swiftly and well to her new home, and I'm looking forward to pics and lots of tales about her journey with you.

Ellen,
Yes she is stepping up. Even tells me "step up" when she wants up which is always. She really didn't like even seeing the dogs through the window last night but this morning is much more relaxed.
We have only had one incident. She was loving on the big boss when the boss walked into a darkened room. Transference bite to the cheek, it was a hard bite but blood loss was about like a shaving nick. 10 minutes later the two of them were sitting in a rocking chair loving it up.

I'm going to prep a pomegranate for her this evening. My grey Gracie doesn't like them but I do and we'll see what Anna thinks.

Have a great day:)
Dave

I just thought of something(and yes it did hurt):D

The lady I got her from said that when she got her everything smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.

Anna smelled of smoke also.:12::mad:

I wonder if she is detoxing from nicotine?

That might explain a few things.

Anyone had a bird go through that? How did they act.

Hmmm...I've not experienced this but it makes sense. If she spent at least the last 1.5 years breathing-in second-hand smoke from her prior owner then it makes sense...

As a smoker of many years (NEVER AROUND MY BIRD OR IN MY HOUSE!) I can attest to the validity of her mood swings and the screaming! LOL...

So glad she's stepping-up and loves attention, she really does sound like a sweetheart that's just had a tough life so far, and who just wants some stability and a family to call her own...Thank God she found it...

Ellen I was a smoker for over 35 years that's what made me think of it. I have quit(don't you just hate a quitter):) I got a mean and irritable for 3-4 days, after that I was just irritable.

I missed the original thread, but there are enough hints here for me to be very glad that Anna has found a safe, loving home. Thank you.
