Sunny South Africa !!!
Parrots
African "Grey"
"Mishka"
Male
7 Years old
Early this morning I went out to go on a delivery.
On my return, my neighbors maid was standing at my door, laughing so much she could hardly talk.
She though I was home, and knocked on the door......
Mishka kept saying knock on the door, knock on the door, and made the sound of someone knocking.
Then she said call the police woo woo woo.........
The maid was worried something was wrong, and was going to call the caretaker, when I suddenly appeared
She said Mishka sounded just like me.
It was so hilarious.

Hey at least when I am not home,I know Mishka keeps guard.......... :D

Hi,
I am having problems with footsteps on the wooden floor and the neighbours thinking we are stamping around when we are both at work...
Sometimes it can be confusing with a parrot around.

haha, thats too great! I remember one time we were looking after this grey. He flew out the door when my mom opened it for a split second! After a day an a half of searching and fliers and phone calls- our avian vet called us to tell us that one of our neighbours found our bird and brought him there. He walked up to the front door and knowcked on it with his beak. When the owners answered the door, he looked up at them and said- HELLO! HELLO HELLO!

Haha = )

Such cute stories!

And as for Mat; you should try teaching your bird new words/phrases, or new tricks. Stimulating your bird with new things to learn is great because it will replace the annoying sound of the footsteps with something new that birdie finds interesting.

OK my story is that Rosie is going to be 1 year old in April. I have tried so hard to teach her to talk but nothing seems to work. I have tried the natural way by just interacting with words that I use every day like hello, goodbye, I love you, baby and so forth. I even recorded my own voice to play for her and she just screams whenever I play it. I wonder how many greys there are out there that do not talk.

Hey there SB, never give up, and I know you will not.
I have 5 friends, all guardians to African Grey's.

Their ages range between 4 years to 16.
4 of them don't speak at all.
The 16 year old one, started talking only recently. They played the CD, as you are doing, for over a year.
They persisted, and are over joyed, with the results.
In one week, George started saying hello, George good boy, whatever and
see you soon.

You are a fantastic guardian, Rosie & Christine have been blessed to have you as a mommy !!!! ;)
