And here he is :) my new red belly

Yeah the natural one is the best of the zupreems, i have tried them all, well not me my birds ;)

Lol, I always try at least one of Rosie's pellets. Zupreem fruit blend is nasty XD so is roudy bush and lafeaber's. Harrison's isn't too bad but not good. The Harrison's power treats were actually kinda good.
Lol i have not gotten the guts up to do that but i admit did try the mash i made them, and it was kinda nasty. My birds never liked the kelp powder to be in it and i see why. I always omit it now.

Lol I've tried them all to honestly I didn't mind rowdy but yea zu preem was gross and Harrison's was earth tasting...

Well I know I'm gonna hear it from cooper and others but I like the zu preem fruit blend.... I mix it with natural pellets and pretty bird and Harrison's plus the on top of that a hi quality seed mix also from Higgins called sunburst... When we mix food it ends ups being over 100 pounds mixed and that lasts quite awhile, but obviously you don't need to do that but I cant say fruit blend is a horrible mix by far it is way better then all seed.

Beautiful red bellied, take it slow with her they have a real issue with phobia and it is hard to fix took me awhile to fix our rescue red bellied(2 years), and she just came around this weekend for the first time.

Goodluck and keep us posted!

I was so excited I was just skimming posts. Thank you. Phoenix is still wary of hands but no aggression. He will take nuts from my hand but spooks if he touches me. I don't expect too much right now. He is whistling to us.

Thank you everyone I love this forum. :)

My red belly isnt skittish at all, in fact he is very outgoing. He did randomly become terrified of his harness for no apparent reason, but other than that he has been pretty easy going. I totally agree that you should go slow, but your bird might warm up pretty quickly. Let him decide how quickly you go.

Hi Megan!

Thank you! Phoenix is very shy of hands. Since the pet store got him (about a month ago) he has been alone in a cage. I saw him and fell in love but wanted to research more (I feel terrible about that now!) When I decided he was the bird for me (sometimes I way overthing...well ok all the time!) I went to have them take him out so I can see, I had been talking to all of the pet store associates about him and some said he was timid and nippy. They got him out with a towel the day before I bought him and he was good but was not coming near us. The day I bought him another associate got him out and then dropped him on the floor. So I'm thinking this might be the reason he is so skittish of hands. He will take nuts out of myfingertips with no problem at all. So this morning I held it further in my fingers and he actually touched my finger but happily took the treat and didn't scamper away. I call that progress :)

He's so precious I know with time he will come around. :)

What a cutie, congrats!

I didn't mean it to scare him:p, I just ment as it is a common issue with red bellies and jardines to be more reserved and then turn phobic when pushed.

Sounds like he is doing great! Whistling is a great way to build some fun and trust between you and your companion.
