They look pretty comfortable together! Pretty encouraging start I think =)

He seems to be really settling in good Wade..right now he is on my shoulder, watching himself on video and preening away..comfy as all get out..now if only he'd start to make some chatter.

I was hoping that when Amy was introducing herself to him and mumbling away,he'd get the hint and make a little noise. He HAS made just a couple chirps and a peep or two.

How long did it take Dusty to start being vocal?

Jim

Looked more like Amy was sharpening those nails! :D

My DYH Amazon would have been cleaning his bill after a quick and simple, all be it bloody, attack. His cage is 'his' cage and another bird on his cage would have been ugly.

Amy is such a sweetheart. She is edging of giving Amazons a GOOD name! Could be a new tread for Amazon's.

Awwe this is sooo sweet...you couldnt ask for better buddies than that...Amy is such a Gentle soul...Loved the video and well done Jim on getting it up on youtube and posting it here...it took me a while to figure out how to do pics and videos ...they can be tricky til you find out how... GREAT Video :)

Remember Dusty is about two weeks younger than BB!! He has been gradually becoming more vocal over this past week, making some noises I haven't heard before. I don't know if he's trying to sing or just doing random stuff. What he definitely has developed though is his shout that he uses when I leave his sight, lol. That has become very predictable. Also today I had him in his cage for most of the morning because I was cooking and afraid he might fly into the stuff on the stove. He can see me in the kitchen and was doing a quieter version of his shout (contact call I guess) every several seconds, so he was a bit of a noisy boy today. Also watch out for the shoulder guardian bird! Dusty has taken to biting me when I take him off my shoulder. The bites don't hurt so I'm not sure if he's really trying but I'm going to limit shoulder privileges a bit in hopes he doesn't get too territorial about "his spot". I have heard of cockatiels drawing blood and I certainly hope not to allow things to go that far.

Not that I'm in ANY WAY an expert on tiels... just sharing my experience from one new owner to another since I'm just a couple weeks farther along and have had many of the same concerns as you :D

I loved the video. They seem to be on the course for friendship. I must say I think your tiel will bond with you as a BFF. I'm not perfect so I will accept if I'm wrong. I'll be watching to see if I'm on target, but Amie will be his friend no doubt which I love! Keep us posted!

Wonderful video, Jim!!!! I think you made a great choice and should soon have two happy fids.
