We just adopted a 15 year old yellow crown amazon. She's been with us for a couple of weeks now. So far, she says hello, hi, no-no, awww (when you rub her head) and she barks. When we whistle or say certain words, she mouths the word or moves her mouth along with the whistle. Her mouth moves but nothing comes out. Is this a step in her learning to say the words?
We are still getting to know her and her personality. We talk to her all the time and she loves the attention. She spends as much time out of her cage as possible. I do notice that when she is in her cage and we are out of eyesight, that is when she is most likely to say hello, hellooo, HEllo, HELLO?
When we brought her home, we knew she was an older bird and were told she only says hello. We are perfectly fine with her not saying alot. It's just that she looks like she's trying so hard and if there is something we are doing wrong or something we can do to help her along...any tips?
Thanks!
