Unfortunately due to a series of events I am currently living home with my mother. Soon will be moving to a property to build a farm (matter of months), but until then I have to do certain things to keep the peace. She doesn't want a litter box anywhere but on my floor of the house because she thinks that will encourage the cat to have an accident elsewhere. Yeah, I've tried explaining the opposite is true, but hey: whatcha gonna do.

Poor Charlie really should be at least indoor outdoor(was born a feral), but there is a major road just down the way so we deal with a crazy nutso wildcat who literally climbs walls (I have photos, I do mean literally). After the move she will be allowed to decide for herself if she wants to go outside or stay as a crazy nutso indoor cat.

But anyway, it means every few hours at least Ms. Charlie needs to come upstairs to do her business and say hi to everyone. Of course the birds are securely caged when she is around.

Better option. Moved a shelf with insect colonies into my office- They'll be happier there anyway, my computer is quite the heater. Moved a few other things around and am putting the new cage pretty near to the other birds. Yay furniture tetris

How about the name Pistol(maybe Pistol Pete(boy)/Pistol Pea (girl))? I think it's fitting and could either be a male or female name. I'm not sold on it tho.

Here's a pic of the cage as it's currently set up, but I will no doubt rearrage it quiiiiiite a bit before qt is up and the little one moves in. Light is for Hypatia's cage, I only moved it over for the photo.

Also a photo of him taken today. He looks poofy and droopy in the photo, but I assure you it is just a bad photo. He has attitude and energy to spare! :D doing very well, still going at a snail's pace toward trying real food tho lol

Very jealous of my phone and will not allow me to ignore him for it. She is very attached to me despite me trying to foster independence in her and socialize her with others. Soon I'll start taking her out to pet shops, etc (in a carrier) so he doesn't grow up to be a brat about strangers.

And what do you guys think: should I call baby a he or a she? Unless she lays an egg or I shell out for DNA(lol, see what I did there), I'm going to just assign a sex so I have pronouns to use other than "it" or switching them up all the time like a crazy person. Not going to breed the bird, so it is irrelevant anyway. So. Would you rather bitty bird be sugar, spice, and everything nice, or would you rather bitty be snips, snails, and puppy dog tails?

Awww im so glad the lil birdy is going from strength to strength. Great paronting indeed. Gender wise just go with your gut on personality and what you think suits the bird. My initial thought for some reason is girl but thats a long shot feeling from reading your posts. I really like the cage x

I've been calling the baby a him, tho the last thing I need is another hormonal cockbird lol. But he is quieter than many lovebirds volume wise, and does more of a lovebird version of chattering than that shrill call they are known for. Shrug. Also seem to be going with the name Pistol. Started using it as a test and sort of got used to it haha.

Going to take him for his first vet visit this upcoming week. Make sure all is well and good before proceeding with the late stages of quarentine and such. Want to have him checked for PBFD because I'm paranoid as heck and that is one bajeesus of a heck of a scary disease. Crazy I've had Pistol since March 1st and already 2.5 weeks! He has grown soso much, and is extremely tame and 100% in charge. Fun little bird. I just love his feisty but seriously affectionate nature. :D

Will do more of an update in a bit, and probably start a new thread since he isn't a soon-to-arrive starving orphan anymore. :D But I am about to embark with my mother on a St. Patrick's Day mission to find a food truck that is apparently in the area today and has an excellent excellent corned beef sandwich. Wish us luck we find it! :)
