-no parrots yet-
I do have two cats -Riply & Nano bites-
four snakes- china, dip & stick, and Grand Chahee-
I was at the petstore picking up some cat food when I passed the budgie display, so I put my finger up there and the bird came over and tried to touch my finger, I got excited and went in to try and hold it, oh talk about sweet! I never met a tame budgie before, he kept tasting me and wanting to get on me... should I go back and get him? I Know his number, I just dont want to get two.. but they need to be in pairs right?

awww, get him! they don't need to be in pairs but you have to become his "mate" and give him lots of love and attention. i have 7 budgies in the aviary but i started out with one and she was fine on her own. she came out for a fly everyday and had lots of toys. just be careful where you put the cage, my cats use to love sitting near to it and tapping it LOL

ooh... and they are much easier to keep tame with one! let me know what you decide...and photos! x

To my knowledge you don't have to have budgies in pairs. My first bird was a single budgie and he was GREAT! As long as you have the time to spend with him each day, in my opinion, he'll be just fine. You can always get him a mirror so he don't feel so alone when you can't be around. :)

I really enjoyed my budgie, he was very entertaining, actively playful, his little chirps and mimics were soo cute! Many budgies even learn to talk and some very well too!

They're cost effective, (at least in my neck of the woods, around $20-$25.00 and they aren't very high maintenence either.

If you've run across one that "picked" you, then I'd have a hard time saying no.

I wasn't planning on purchasing a conure, but I did :D ROFLOLOL!!!

It happens...go with it! You might be glad you did :D

Keep us posted and PICTURES if you get him. ;)

Go for it! I think he's saying "take me home"! Like Nakiska said, they are very cost effective little guys too. Especially since they aren't chewing their way through a bucket of toys a month :D They make great pets!

Two friends of mine both have just one budgie each, and they do fine also. Both birds have one of those plastic "boyfriends" that they seem to like lol.

bad news, I went back just to see him, and the whole family was gone. I should have gotten him when I had the chance, but at the same time, its probly for the best, my last day of work is the 11th and I dont know if I have landed this job yet. so, I shouldent be looking to add to my family anyway.
