Hi i've been given a baby alexandrine ... poor little thing has just had protozoa and clamydia :(

He's doing really well now ... been screened cleared of protozoa ..... the clamydia is under control now as well

my concern is he he has never perched ... poor little thing hobbles around ... he has a big calis on his left heel :(

Can anyone please help me in telling me how to get rid of the calis on his heel

I think the callus will probably heal itself once birdie starts perching correctly. You don't say how old he is, so it's hard to know whether he's ready for that. Assuming he is, you could start by putting a food treat at the end of a perch and showing it to him. If he really wants the food, he'll find his way to sidle across the perch to get it. Or, you could wedge a small bit of tree branch in his cage with its bottom on the floor. When he gets curious, birdie might gradually learn to climb up the bit of tree. Since he's been on the floor all this time, his feet will need strengthening to gain the correct grip. So be patient and give him opportunities to climb with a reward (treat) at the end so he wants to keep doing it. Forcing him to stand on a perch might only cause falls and perhaps injuries.

Please keep us informed of your progress: so often people come asking for help but never let us know whether our suggestions worked or not. :) I hope your bird recovers completely from his chlamydia - Alexandrines are just gorgeous and very clever as well!
