He won't settle or sleep on anything else and He's only started it recently so we need to buy a replacement.

Is sisal rope a safer alternative?

It's basically a coiled rope around metal that's shaped as a spring but can be manipulated into other shapes of needed , natural materials including some kinds of rope are safe if chewed, but cotton causes a risk of crop impaction. He only started chewing it yesterday or the day before so it needs replacing ASAP.

Thank you! I had no idea they were called that. I would change it for a sisal rope if I were you but he may be pretty upset the first day or so. Soooo I would maybe get him a new toy as well or a special treat. Just a thought. Good Luck !

a common solution..
rapping it in vet tape and replacing the tape every 2-7 days
tiki not everyone wants to replace vet tape every 2-7 days :ROFLMAO:💀

I agree with @Niteldy, Stitch, those rope fibres can cause all sorts of nasty health issues like gastro-intestinal tract blockages when they ingest those fibres. They can also get their claws caught in the loose fibres, many years ago I had a budgie who caught a toenail in loose fibres of a rope perch and he would have done some serious damage to himself had I not been there to get him out of it! I have always used sisal ones ever since. I would definitely be opting for the sisal version, they are just so much safer 🙏

Knowing my luck with albie, it would need replacing daily 🤣 once he decidea its chewable nothing will deter him.

My poor coffee table is testiment to that! Even with blankets thrown over it!

Do you recall the video of him trying to get in my thermos mug? He had a tantrum afterward and discovers he could chew the table!

Perfect, I've 2 sisal rope perches In my amazon cart.

He hasn't done anything other than sleep on it for almost 2 years and as soon as I saw 1 chewed thread I came here to check sisal was ok before buying.

If you haven't already found a sisal alternative, I just recently found this and bought it immediately for my lovebird who had a cotton one in her cage. https://planetpleasures.com/boing/

Edit: I see now you already bought replacements :ROFLMAO: still, not sure if you found a sisal boing, so maybe this will be helpful!
