I have my 5 month old budgie relocating with me to Sweden soon and was wondering if anyone had travel crate/accessories recommendations. I'll be on United Airline and then SAS

Have you completed your import documents for Sweden!?! If you are not already working hard on completing those Swedish Documents and are not working with your US based Certified Avian Vet (CAV), you will likely not have to worry about the carrier, because you will not have the documents you need.
FYI: Also, have you talked to your Airlines!?! I was under the impression that United had halted any and all Pet Travel. But that time period may have past. They also have requirements that you need to completed and comply with in order to take your bird.

Yes I'm working on my US export and Sweden Import docs. One of the questions on the US export form is to describe the carrier I'll be using. Both the airlines are accepting pets on their flights according to their sites. United accepts Budgies in Cabin and SAS accepts them in cargo only.
Great that you got that going! You need to call United and get the dimensions of the area under the seat in front of your, since that will be the point of concern.
So, you are flying United to the East Coast of the US and than Transferring to SAS for the flight to Sweden? Better get that transfer down solid since you may have to be the one to make that physical transfer. There are rarely in the same building!!!
Assure that you have the paper with you and copies in a plastic Ziploc taped to the outside and another on the inside of the cage. Assure that the paperwork with the bird has your final address and phone number(s) in Sweden.

The good news is with a budgie you'll easily find a compliant carrier!
I'm assuming you're connecting through either Chicago, Newark, or Washington-Dulles? The SAS flight will depart from the International terminal at choice 1, and possibly either domestic or international terminal at choice 2. Might be same terminal at choice 3. Check with United, as the hand-off to SAS may be via PetSafe courier or in person.

I am not a fan of animal travel in cargo, and would ask for an exemption. Perhaps the blanket policy is to avoid birds, because some species are noisy. United, for example, permits birds in the cabin except for cockatoos! Budgies are rather quiet and tend to not be boisterous. Cannot hurt to ask! If granted, get it in writing, as airport or onboard staff may question!
