I realized getting an egg and raising it is a bad idea. I didn't realize how hard it is to raise a baby. I also found out it was a Nigerian scam lol. But if it was real, I don't want to do anything to damage the baby, so I will probably just get a grey from a breeder. Thank you to the bird experts. I didn't realize how hard it would be.

A lot of scams make really hard things sound super easy. Recently our parrot club rescued 12 macaws. Some days after there was a "great deal" on a macaw and we all thought "either this is a scam or this is one of the birds that got sold before we could get there, and a macaw that's been in a tiny cage outside for 30+ years is not the pet they thought they wanted." I contacted them. Scam scam scam, and not a smart scammer either. The guy couldn't keep straight what he was trying to sell me, and insisted he could ship macaws, bull dogge pups, and Bengal kittens "to my doorstep" well, this is Hawaii, and dogs and cats have to be 11 months old before entering basically, and there are tons of regulations, permits, and extensive quarantines involved! So don't feel bad, scammers are out there.

And we are all glad you changed your mind. I am a breeder myself (not of greys) and I can put my hand over my heart and swear before God, BUYING A BABY DOES NOT IMPROVE THE BOND. In my personal experience, even if you do everything right, it actually worsens your relationship if anything, because they view you as a parent sometimes. Combine that with the fact that there are hundreds of things that can go wrong physically and developmentally, and what you have is a recipe for disaster and heartbreak. It also costs more in the end, since formula is not cheap! Lazy, dishonest, and poorly educated breeders and sellers push this option to get out of weaning the bird themselves.
