I don't believe I said I was offended and Yes Plax i completly understand what the collective opinion is and I appreciate the opinions. I just think a couple were a little harsh. I didn't believe that there was a risk to her before now is a different situation. The reason I posted was because I wanted to change the situation now that there is another bird in the room with the grey. I cant put a pad lock on the cage as you have it and there is also 7 access areas to the Greys cage possing an issue because they close with drop tabs.

My option is to purchase chains and pad locks for all doors including the food bowls. The Mac cage only has one front door access and she is unable to get out the the food bowl passages since they are accessed from the outside only. She isn't much on escaping anyways its the grey that is the issue and I am concerned about her getting on the mac cage and possible getting bit. Again though I'd like to stress this isn't a situation where I am letting them hang together while im out having a good time.

Have you considered replacing your grey's cage with one that's more secure in terms of escape potential?

At the moment I can't but I have been looking at other cages and when Im able to that is a possibility.

I see. Well, you can perhaps eliminate some of the escape routes that your grey currently uses. There's a semi-permanent method that should only be used on doors or ports that you don't intend to open for a while. That method is to utilize stainless steel hose clamps. Below is a photo of one of them locking the sliding breeder door closed on the cage Salsa is currently in.

When tightened properly, using ss hose clamps in this way is effective in that most parrots will not be able to remove them. But it's important to keep the somewhat sharp leading edges of the clamp straps pointing away from where they may be snagged by a bird. It's best to position these clamps so the leading edges of the clamp straps are not accessible at any areas where a bird's tongue may contact them from inside of a cage.

If you decide to temporarily use these clamps to secure the ports on your grey's cage, you may still be able to come up with a way to change/replenish/clean the food and water bowls through the main cage door. That would leave the main cage door itself as the only exit requiring an escape-proof lock method. The clamps are fairly inexpensive and because they're made from stainless steel they're non-toxic to parrots. And again, it would only be a temporary solution.

Wendy, my Niko is a "little" Houdini, and I had to literally wreck my brain to figure out how to secure his door AND every single door to his food dishes, and I'm not exxaggerating. :( Sad thing is that his cage is only 3 years old, (Niko's age) AND it's a VERY expensive King's Cage, model #506. I won't go out buying a new cage, but I had to buy special food bowl, and make sure they are in their holders at any given time, otherwise he'll knock the entire door out of the hinges.

I promise you, none of us were meaning to be hurtful or disrespectful in any way. All of us simple want to avoid any (possible) tragedy. :)

This is a good short-term option. They are called pear links.
