I have been working with Bob for a while now and he has "shoulder" fairly well down to the point that he will fly to my shoulder even if he left because something spooked him.

He is also getting better at "poopy poopy", far fewer messes now.

Sometimes I will set him down and attempt to go some distance away and then say shoulder and get him to come. He has no problem with the shoulder part; it is the staying that is an issue. Any suggestions on how to teach Bob "stay"?

There is some information here about training flighted parrots and if you scroll down to number 3, it addresses the stay command. It seems to me like you teach them "stay" pretty much the same way you do with a dog. Obedience training for flighted parrots

Timing. The first few times was me guessing that he needed to go and then I would hold him over a trash can for 5 minutes saying "poopy poopy" constantly while he was there. If he went I would tell him good bird and give him lots of praise. After the third correct guess on my part he seemed to get it and will now go fairly quickly with just one or two repitions if he needs to go.
