Adding a second Conure - good or wrong idea?

remember: "the parrot picks you"
not "the parrot picks on you"
;)

but seriously:
Even if you wanted a mate for Cytrynka to breed with with I am sure you do not want a male that is so overly agressive (not for her, but also you do not want to breed overly agressive chicks, because where would they go?).

Well done being utterly responsable (even with a bleeding heart)- that is true heroism!

My goal was not breeding at all. Knowing all I can on breeding, I'd do anything to avoid it. But "in case of the situation" I have an experienced helping hand in the nearby, who could take care of the potential eggs/chicks.

But the goal of the mate was to have another companion bird for Cytrynka, and pet for us. I know it might end up in Cytrynka loosing her current bond, but with two hand-raised conures it shouldn't be too bad (at least this is how I have explained this to myself). But now.. "things went back to normal". The plus side is I understood how lucky I was with Cytrynka and her character.

I think you made the right call as well, now....if you wanted another conure and got a much younger one like I did I think the integration would be smooth.
