I recently was given a pair of greenwing macaws who are ill... sensitivity tests are back.... E coli and enterobacter... treatment is baytril first, and then vet said gentimycin... I am looking into using Trimeth/Sulfa instead because gentimycin is super rough in kidneys and is easily overdosed because it dehydrates birds...
So I did two weeks treatment for giardia, now we are on baytril for 14 days (injectable), will start fluconazole at one week in (orally), continue for two weeks and then onto (hopefully) Trimeth/Sulfa (if I can find injectable). What a vet bill
So, it'll be a LONG month or so.
(Only visible symptoms... one was mildly emaciated and papillae were gone) the other had some feather shredding behavoir and a slightly slimy throat.
