Green Cheeks Conure
I accidentally fed my Green Cheeks Conure a cracker with a bit of garlic and posdible onion powder. He didnt eat much of the small tid bit but felt really bad when I read tge box snd saw garlic powder. I hope the little he consumed is not a problem. He's also consumed a bit of caffeine. He adores diet soda! Oh boy!
Please advise if I'm a bad bird owner. Feeling awfully bad!

I don't think you're a bad bird owner at all! If you are, then so am I! The soda with caffeine is something you should avoid but an accidental stolen sip won't kill him. My budgies steal my food and beverages all the time even though I try to keep some things away from them. The cracker with garlic is unlikely to hurt them either but avoid it next time. My budgies are always trying to steal the toppings on my everything bagels (garlic and other things) with no ill effect.

Thank you DonnaBudgie!
I appreciate your response and kind words! I love my Snuggles so very much and dont want to make him sick.

The other day one of my Conures stole an onion off of my pizza. I tried to get it from him but he kept flying away. He ate it with no ill effects.
As far as garlic goes, birds are aloud very small amounts of garlic. Theres a bird food that has garlic in it that i was reading about the other day . I cant think of the name brand right now.

I am a very forgiving soul... I HAVE to be: in the Rb's younger days, when he was still stranger-friendly , and I was still stupid, he would "circulate" at our parties, begging and sampling sips of peoples' wines and cocktails. We thought it was cute when he'd bob and weave and sing off-key. NO MORE!
But to this day, he craves and begs for drinks. He knows. He hears the clicking ice, the bubbles of champagne at New Years... he stays caged, lest he assault revelers..
A cautionary tale, I guess.

My budgie Rocky flies over as soon as she hears a can pop and wants to sit on the rim and drink the tiny bit in the groove. She wants to sample everything we drink and then bathe in it if she can! Could you imagine having to wash a budgie that jumped into a glass of orange juice?

Parrots can tolerate tiny amounts of people food (unless its one of the deadly ones like avocado or chocolate) with no ill effects. A smidge of this or that should not hurt them. Alcohol - well I know someone who lost a parrot because at a party some ass thought it would be funny to get her bird drunk. The next day the parrot was gone.
