Hi All, I have a couple of behaviour question about my GCC Loco. He's 2 this month and is a male. We are very close and he's typically very well behaved and sociable. He's super smart and spends all his time out of the cage when we are home, sometimes he even comes to work with me! I do realise his reaching sexual maturity this month.
I live with my girlfriend. I'm pretty confident that Loco thinks he's number 2 and my girlfriend is number 3 in the pecking order. Dee has never had pets and she used to be a bit scared of birds. She's pretty good with Loco but he can be a bit nasty from time to time. This isn't really unusual though.
My question is....I notice when ever Dee, Loco and I are sitting in the lounge room Loco will always sit with her, on her or near her. He does play with her hair a bit but he can also bite her a bit too hard sometimes and harass her. She is unable to pick him up unless I'm watching, he knows he has to behave when I'm around
He also stalks her, he's gets down low and walks up to her slowly, he also puffs up near here and I noticed just yesterday that he's doing this funny head bopping thing were he taps his peak on the couch slowly like a little head banger.
I interpret this behaviour as him establishing himself in the pecking order and perhaps trying to keep her away from me? Not sure....
What puzzles me though is if I'm sitting on the couch with him and Dee moves upstairs, he'll fly off after her. Quite often he'll fly off to other rooms to find her too......
He does seem to like her but his behaviour confuses me. Any ideas?
