Looking at Ralph's first photos, and being more experienced now with parrots in general, with him, & with him being sick, I do think he was sick when we brought him home.

I'm mad about not knowing what it is, having made so much progress, and going backwards again. Vet thinks it wasn't fully gone the first time. Maybe.

One chronic infection is chlamydia, it takes 41 days of doxycycline to clear, and relapse is common as has dormant phase. You can read my last page in my thread has links on chlamydia. Not every sick burd has chlamydia, but it is a common infection.

Also I've read several chronic kidney infection situations. You might need an x ray.

Just an FYI: It is very important to always provide the medication over the full length of time provided and in some cases a bit longer when needed. Far too many people stop early when they see a recovery and that 'can' lead to a return of the illness.

Likely, your Amazon came home sick! Of all the Amazons that have come to take over our home, none of them had not been sick! Everyone wants to wait until the Parrot is comfortable prior to taking them to the Avian Vet. We take the new member directly to the Vet's Clinic! Day One, first hour, at the Vet's office!

Lovely pics, parrots hide illness as long as possible. Is your vet avian certified or equivalent, were there cultures/lab tests to identify the cause of illness?

Yes, certified avian vet, no he didn't do culture or blood draws.
