30yo showing new symptoms

I looked up Aspergillosis and confirmef my understanding that Aspergillus is a common environmental mold and that Aspergillosis is unusual in animals, humans and birds with a healthy immune system and an otherwise healthy respiratory system. It's almost impossible to avoid being exposed to aspergillus spores but once infected its difficult to treat and apparently thats what happened to poor OB.
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss and how it occurred. Just heartbreaking.

How did I not see this thread! I am very sorry for OB's passing, I and many on here know what you are going thru.
Your empathy helps. We remain devastated and can conceive of no end. Nothing has significance compared to the total love of our parrot.

Oh I’m soo sorry for the loss of OB, you did everything you could & he knew he was loved. Much love to your aching heart from us in the UK.

I imagine the vet must feel pretty awful about what happened to OB, especially considering how long OB has been such an important part of your lives.

Yes she was pretty devastated too. She and her nurse were meant to be just doing a harmless check of his body but he evoked his loud pain response before going into shock. We don't comprehend why they continued as to us it was torture. He had bodily autonomy and only really been handled very gently by us during his 30 years.

We did not know that the rhythmic beak opening was a sign of shock and still don't for sure. We had observed short examples of this behavior on at least one occasion at home since his accident. This has made us think that he was already suffering and now hope that despite his tragic death that he has been saved further distress over a longer period of deterioration.
