3x Baby Macaws laid and born this October 2022
Just candled and all three eggs are fertile! Hoping for three healthy and strong baby Scarlet macaw babies. Let the 24-28 days of waiting start! Well, minus 5 days for them to develop so 19-23 days till hatching! Will be posting hatching pictures but hopefully videos!

I'm so excited for you!!! Love seeing the pics of your other babies!

Thank you so much! Havn’t seem much of much documentation/progress reports of macaws, especially Scarlets so I decided to give it a go! Hope the progress pics are nice and bring a smile to all bird lovers!

So I've wondered, for curiosity sake, how big a macaw egg is ... can you tell me? Or give a frame of reference in the pic. My Mac is a boy, so I'll never see one of my own :D
@ravvlet Spot on! Little big bigger than a quail egg is size. (Know this specifically cause I bought a quail egg modifying holding thing for my incubator and the eggs didn't fit.

Its bigger than than a quails but smaller than a chickens my best description. (Havn’t seen too different sizes eggs in my lifetime ahaha)

Hes a picture for refrence to a regular Bic Round Stic M Black pen.
The eggs did get smaller each time the momma laid just like last time. Going to be difference in time they hatch and physical size from egg size.

PS: Used a organic/non-toxic sharpie/marker to write on the egss. Did so last time and birds hatch and are healthy. Also read and did research and it says eggs can be written on with non toxic pens or markers. (If the parents take care of the eggs for 26+ days, the eggs might roll around in bedding to feces to possible dead things around so a bit of non toxic marker is the least harm for the egg and chick)

Super close! Little bit bigger than a quail for sure but smaller than a Small chicken egg. We thought they were quail sized and bought a quail holding adapter for my incubator and they couldn't fit barely ahahaha. So you, me and my dad had the same thought and comparison to quail eggs. :ROFLMAO:

Also beauuuttiful Harlequin Macaw! One of the few macaw species I have yet to see in person or own!
Obviously like most macaw lovers my grail are the Hyacinths and I have been trying to get a pair but there sooooooooo much scammers or imposters and stuff.

I do love the progress pics! And thank you for explaining size! It's all so interesting!!

Your welcome! Please feel free to ask any questions. Will be posting videos soon of feeding and of the macaws in general. Also got 1 out of three hatching live out of its shell so that is some cool footage.

Will try to get all three of the new ones on camera hatching. Thinking about mount a GoPro for 24/7 monitoring nearing the due dates of the eggs.

Wow time flies. Got sick around 10 days ago and barley been feeling better and had my family help take care of the baby macaws. How much they have grown and changed since last update!

They are 37, 40, and 43 days old.

Also next clutch of eggs are starting to hatch. First egg hatched yesterday and its currently day 2. Second egg of the clutch has been moved to the higher humidity chamber with no rotation and the baby macaw is starting to break the egg. Should be hatching either midnight or early tomorrow on 10/1/2022

Beautiful babies!
I have a couple of questions. How many pairs of macaws do you have? Are you incubating the eggs as soon as they are laid? Do the parents have any contact with the eggs or the babies?

Thank you! I just have one pair of breeding macaws that started breeding and laying eggs this year. Yes, I have been incubating every clutch as soon as they are laid and I tried letting the parents have contact with the babies but they were only curious for a bit and then seemed aggressive.

They are very! Been super busy lately but will update later today with more recent pictures! The first clutch has full feathers and are around 63-69 days old. Second clutch is barely getting there feathers in and are around 25-31 days old. Also had a third clutch that started laying yesterday so super excited for more babies!

10/26/22 updated.
Pictures I took last week and also today.
First clutch of babies are basically fully feathered. The second oldest has a unique head color with yellow/golden hues to it, very beautiful! They are around 60-70 days old and are currently weaning off formula.

Second clutch is around 20-30 days and barley starting to get its downy and regular feathers.

Third clutch has one egg laid on 10/24/2022. Hopefully we get another clutch of 3 or more eggs🙏🏻
