Hi Everybody!
Glad that I am a new member here. You all helped me with a lot of information.
I am Brazilian, used to have birds since very very young.

2 years ago I bought a pair of Sun Conures. Did not know if they were male and female... but they could not be separated, so we have to buy both : )
Did DNA test and the results was male and female.
We weren't trying to reproduce them, but they love each other , and after 2 years matting...GOT MY FIRST EGG 2 days ago!!!
Got so happy, and so afraid at same time..
Know all the dangerous around.
First, I am not 100% sure they are NOT brother and sister
( I bought from a breeder, she told me they were not related...but we never know)
Second, I have some problem with cage

Is so complicated I will try to explain
I read a lot of post and did not see nobody having the some problem then me : )

First I used to travel a lot, think that is ne of the reasons that she did not had a EGG before.
My birds did not have a cage, they used to stay on top of another bird cage
and at night they use to sleep in a dog carrying cage.
When staying at my porch they used to stay in a big cage, when I live the house they stay inside, on top of another cage
So, when I am at home they stay outside on big cage
When I am not at home, they stay inside on top of another cage
At night they sleep at bathroom on a carrying cage

So, lucklly I pay attention on her and saw that she was about to put an egg,
So I stay thinking. Were I will leave them?
Can not leave them outside all the time
Can not leave them on top of another bird cage
Can not leave them only on carrying cage
Almost bought another cage...and a nest box...., but all this would be new for them also, and they would not be happy
So I put the big cage ( tomorrow I can measure) inside the bathroom, and put the sleeping cage inside also at the bottom of the cage....
Worked out good! Few hours later there was the egg.
For now everything is ok they are happy,
But those are my problems...
I know they can not stay at bathroom all the time!
She is taking care of the egg, but I am afraid both of them being tired of staying at bathroom.
How much time each day you think that I can play with them or walk outside like I used to
I get afraid the egg stay there without her and get cold...

Sorry to explain a lot, thanks for all the advice and sorry my English

But for now I am happy with my EGG probably tomorrow morning have my second one : )

Thanks for all your help!!!

Welcome to the forum, good job with the english. They usually lay every other day. She may not set the eggs until she has a clutch (maybe 3 eggs). The hen will stay on the eggs most of the time once she starts to set, male will come and go and feed her. he will probably also spend the night with her. Can they be loose (free) inthe house ? can you just leave the large cage open? I don't think they will miss going outside with you too much. When they have eggs, that becomes most important to them. Congratulations on breeding such a rare bird in your country.
