Pippi - Congo African Grey
Pippi is still reluctant to eat pellets, or chop, and only so-so with bird bread, but does eat some of the "Fresh Baked Bites" pellet and loves nutriberries. Not my all time favorites, but better than the junk from walmart her previous owners had her on.

She'll gladly take vitamins mixed in with a couple of teaspoons of cider though. She loves her cider LOL

She has become proficient at her foraging wheel and loves to shred anything shreddable. I need to go stock up on pine cones before the snow flies.

She is getting more at home and at ease every day. Still a bit nervous in some rooms of the house, but she's very easy to read and we go at her pace. Everything is on her terms.

But I can pet her and scritch her on a regular basis if the little kids are out of the house, or in bed. She's too antsy to let me if they're buzzing around. I know her previous owner used to hold her on her chest, and pull a blanket over Pippi and snuggle with her at night, we're not there yet, but she does sit on my shoulder or arm and lean hard into me while I'm petting her. :D

It's taken a few months for my grey to start getting comfortable with me, and for me to get comfortable with him! I've learned his body language more, learned that those crazy eyes he gives me sometimes means he wants scritches, or when he's gunning for some cuddles.

It's as much about learning her as it is her learning you, and it sounds like you're on the right track for sure!

Sounds like you are doing well! :)

Have you tried mixing some Nutriberries and pellets into her foraging wheel?

I found it easy to get my flock *really* eating pellets by grinding some (dye-free) pellets up into dust, then mixing with some seeds (about 50/50?), then adding enough water to make a thick paste. With this pellet goop, you can then make your own "nutriberries" or cakes! As the bird goes to eat the seeds, they'll be tasting the pellets along the way! :)

What a grand report! She's so beautiful and sounds and looks so happy. I know you're proud of her progress. My Grey loves his foraging wheel, too. He always wants me to put his treats in there rather than just handing them to him, even if it's just one. He also likes the treat cups on a chain that screw/unscrew together. You might look for that one. Can't wait for more reports. It's so nice seeing a parrot really thrive.
