I've had my baby for 2 months now! I can't believe how fast the time flew by although its felt like she has been a part of the family forever. How did I get through the day without her cuddles before?! I never thought I would be so attached to a bird but she really has made us a "flock" family :)

It is amazing how quickly the time goes by! Lola is gorgeous, and it is good to hear an update. She is looking fantastic:)

Thank you! :) her tail feathers are still a little tattered but i'm fine with patiently waiting for her to be more concerned with taking care of them haha

I am still waiting on my CBC's tail feathers to look better as well, I can sympathize:)
He came to me with no tail feathers, and now he keeps breaking them. I did spy 2 that have opened tho, so hopefully he will not look like a duck butt for much longer!

I'm sure your CBC is just as beautiful tail or no tail! How long have you been waiting for them to heal?

We got him at the end of Nov. of last year. His feathers were pretty tattered, and are finally molting, thank goodness. Thank you, he is still a pretty little guy, even in his raggedness:)

Do all birds start to molt around this time? Or does it matter how old they are? I've noticed Lola is losing a few feathers here and there but they seem to be baby feathers (they're white and soft)?

She's beautiful. I think Jendays are one of the prettiest parrots!

They will always molt the fluffy white ones. That's just the down feathers. Birds usually molt when the weather changes, however, if she's not old enough she won't.

Thank you! :) She is my first bird so I try to read up as much as I can about conures but even after three books I feel like I just get the same basic information over and over again. Thank Goodness for this forum! lol. It makes me feel a lot better to hear that she will always lose the down feathers. The first time I saw one at the bottom of the cage I freaked out and was like OMG IS SHE PLUCKING?! False alarm! haha :orange:

A lot of birds are molting now that it's spring. However, for my guys, they just got done molting a few months ago!

I'm not sure why, but my birds tend to molt later than everyone else's birds. They start in the summer and go to the fall, although I had two birds still molting come winter! And the temperature of the birds room is reflected by that of the weather! So they get cooler inside temps during the winter and hotter temps during the spring to fall time!

Except Jayde. I've never had a bird molt *NEARLY* as much as her, and I haven't even had her a year! Well, I would have had her for 1 year next month! Two weeks after I got her, she started molting! She really didn't seem to stop molting completely until a few months ago. During this molt, she lost all but one of her clipped flights. Now? She's molting again. :11: None of my other birds are currently molting! Just her! She's losing her secondaries in her wings atm.

Awww well congrats on having her almost a year!
I'm assuming Lola is too young to molt now so maybe next spring I will see some lose feathers haha. It does warm up in AZ year round though so maybe her molting process wont have much a pattern similarly to your birds! :)

Doesn't the time go by fast? So much to learn...that's how I feel too! We've had ours home for 4 months now and it does feel more complete. They are so fun with all their personality! Good luck with your baby and congratulations!
