1 Year old Catalina Dumping Bowls

Found a pic of the feeder we based ours on:

Betrisher,

I actually would not advise that feeder for a Macaw! Macaws are very clever naughty birds that will learn to dismantle that feeder and toss it to the bottom of the cage quicker then you think. Plus it's rated for birds size of a Grey to small Cockatoos. Willie learned to dismantle his treat cage thing in no time, he completely disassembled it. The bowls I've suggested, I played with them while at the bird fair and they work rather well, especially the second one, it locks it in tight.

LOL! Fair enough, Mikey! I've never even seen a Macaw, so I really have no idea what they're capable of. Our Beaks do well with this sort of feeder and they're pretty darned destructive. My husband made it from thick acrylic offcuts and he's planning others to fit the Beaks better (ie. longer). We'll also put a couple in the Lovebirds' cage, as they're the messiest feeders of all!

PS. If anyone has a Macaw going begging, I would *so* like one! I don't mind being bitten! :D

Go see Tab and ask if you can borrow Fargo. He'll make you want to get a Macaw... :D

Huh! Where d'you think I got my Macaw-envy in the first place? :D

None of my 3 are bowl dumpers. I do use the 48 oz bowls from Expandable Habitats which are held in place by the ring and there is a thumb screw on the outside of the cage so if a bird is not allowed to climb on the cage these screws work great but if the bird is one to climb on the cage they can remove the screws.

Another idea is the holders that Don makes which several people say their bowl dumpers have not been able to do because they can't lift the bowls out of. If someone is interested shoot Don an email and tell him what you want. He can make them to fit a cage or even a stand.
