I bought a plastic box with two sliding doors at the the dollar store.
I put it on top of the cage put seeds in it, showed the birds how to open. They could not wait for me to get out of the way so they could play!! Sorry for pic quality was taking into bright light

Of course the cheap stuff that catches their attention the most. You can spend $40 on a toy and they won't touch it. LOL

OOoh, I like that ! $1.00 well spent! Gotta see if they got something like that locally here.

I LOVE the dollar store! Just the other day I picked up some little plastic maracas (I saw the exact same ones on a parrot toys website for twice what I paid for them!), wooden puzzles, plastic cups and containers, and a whole bunch of other stuff...ended walking out with two big bags of bird toys for under $20!

Here is my $1 "toy", I give Jacob a tissue box once in a while, he loves it.

This is how I hang it up, I poke 4 holes and put plastic C hooks in them.

Great deal! I looked for other stuff, but no joy

Ain't it the truth!!

Too cute. The free/cheap toys are ALWAYS the funnest toys. I know they are birds and not cats, but half the time when I order bird toy parts, they'd rather play with the packaging than the toy parts! Haha

There are literally 2 dollar stores in each "town" out here. Very, *very* financially depressed area. The county we were first looking at properties in, is literally *the* poorest county in the country. But that is neither here nor there. Point is I've never thought to check one for bird toys! Gotta do that the next time we head into town.

I'm glad to inspire you! Lots of great DIY toys! And a member here told me about offering old paperback books for shredding even the budgieove them
