I was messing around with some paper cups and stumbled upon this - papercup carnations! I think it's quite pretty and I haven't seen it before. I hope you don't think I'm too presumptious just jumping on here with a tutorial and whatnot but I wanted to share how I did it, in case you want to try it for your fids. Here's what I did :
Start with two colours of paper cups (3 of each), a piece of rope, a small slice of cork (or nut or whatever), a pair of scissors :
Stack all the paper cups together and cut in the bends, from the edge to where the centre starts, every two or three bends. (That's my mom playing hand model there )
Cutting done and cork slice placed in the centre. Make sure you've alternated the colours of the papercups you're using.
Gather the papercups around the cork slice.
Tie the piece of rope tightly around the cork slice, pulling the papercup together.
Turn over, 'fluff' the papercup out a bit and ta-da!! . Papercups magically turned into a carnation . I think I would make a nice foot toy or attachment to a busy board or activity basket.
