Constant regurgitation and mating behavior

Hello
I have an 19yr old female macaw that has been with me for about 9 months. When she is out all she was are head scratches (I'm good with that) and to refuge and feed me. It gets to a point where she is just bobbing and bobbing her head regurgitating and then back her little fanny up to me and rubs.

What can I do to reduce this? I've tried redirecting to toys or putting her back when she starts it but nothing has been working. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

FYI: It is very possible that your Title is limiting the fly in viewers from the MAC group.

As My Good Friend 'above' was 'with Humor' getting at, is that the Loving Season seems to be starting early for some, including the New World Parrots!

Targeting Your Issue!

Move your MAC to a daylight World matches what the Sun is providing currently at your home. In short, Bedtime at Sundown and Up and around when the Sun Rises! Its a hard and fast requirement if you really want to reduce this Hormonal Response.

Watch what you are feeding your MAC, warm mushy foods is a clear no-no!

Stop handling (petting) your MAC on its mid and lower back, nor its mid and lower bottom.

And, clearly no allowing her advances.

It is wonderful to be Bonding with your MAC, but it can also be not so fun to be Bonding with your MAC.

This will at least get you started!

Good News: At least you're not the individual that she doesn't like!

My personal experience...
Ever since the Rickeybird hit sexual maturity at about 3-4 years of age, I've had to manage his hormones! If kept on too steady a long day, and too much light, he stayed "in the mood" (aggressive, even louder than usual, pleasuring himself on my neck ) year round. If I keep him on a natural light schedule... up with dawn, down with dusk, year around... THEN he's only a little monster rooster from July to September). He has his own room, so I can do that easily.

When my B&G wants to regurgitate food to me, I move his beak and say "No thanks". This stops the motion and he looks a little disappointed, but accepts it. I would stop her regurgitation already at the start at the motion instead of waiting for the food comes.

If she's really love sick, I would only pet her on her head, neck and upper back. Even under the wings when they are hormonal, can set them off.

Fortunately I have never had my bird masturbate on me and I believe that is because I have stopped his advances, when they were just advances and not actually love making.

I think when changing your way to handle your bird, you can expect some irritability from your bird, as she will probably not understand what's going on.

Thank you everyone. I changed the title and will start your suggestions right away. I've already been shortening her days so I will continue that and begin the other suggestions.
