The picture below is from a rod taken out of a brand new toy. It was not given to our bird because it was not stainless steel. The toy was dismantled and corrosion on the rod noted and photographed.
Mac is a chewer and will bite and chew on pretty much anything. Corrosion on a steel rod such as this can contribute to heavy metal poisoning if ingested by your feathered companion.
Don't take for granted that the company selling you bird products or bird toys cares enough to take the time to investigate the product being sent to your feathered companion.
