I finally started working on this project last Monday; it's been a project on the back burner since last fall when I salvaged the grape stumps and branches when my in-laws transplanted their vines. Well, having a garage now really makes building things like this easy
This is what I managed to save...
And then I cut off all the roots and gross parts...
Then they got scrubbed and power washed, and this jaw horse is a really neat tool that made this job a bit easier
I put it together using untreated sisal twine tightly wrapped around the branches to keep them together. Knowing that the branches will get destroyed, I wanted to make it somewhat easier to dismantle and replace branches later on if I needed to. I used uncoated stainless steel cable secured with SS clamps and quick links attached to SS eye screws on each end.
We hung it up in her corner and I wrapped/covered the sisal with strips of tshirt- the whole time she wanted out of her cage (lol) but I wanted to get everything done to it so I wasn't in her way lol I finally finished and let her check it out- she LOVES it! She inspected every inch, every toy, and even had a ball stripping the bark lol
(I think she's smiling in this one lol)
I'm pretty happy with how this project turned out, and most of all that she likes it- I have enough pieces to make at least 1, maybe 2 more
