My lovely little Black Cap Conure, Lucy (in the sky with diamonds) <3
So I decided to try my hand at a bit of a bigger project! I cut some limbs from my parents' trees and made a stand for Lucy and Bleu. It's made from gum tree which I've been assured is safe for my fildren :) (gum is an eucalyptus tree). I put little metal feet on the bottom of it so i can easily move it and it won't scratch the hardwood flooring :) The rope is jute cording and it's all held together with a little bit of hot glue and some well placed nails :) It's not flimsy, but it won't hold a macaw! It's about 4' tall. haha I hope they'll like it :)

I even made some new toys with wood beads, ribbon, bells, jute cord, and cardboard from empty ribbon spools.

It looks fantastic... Well done!

Very nice!! Your birdy will love that :D

I like your style andrea. I'm not sure how large or small conures or pionus birds are but I bet they'll love the stand you made them. I'm thinking about making my umbrella cockatoo one out of manzanita wood and I'll for sure make the base platform at least as wide as the furthest limb. My husband, (retired construction contractor), drilled that one into my head!

Have you tried it out yet? I'll be afraid the birds would tip it over when they go to the furtherest branch tip. As your base is very small and thin. IF it holds, that's awesome. Just make sure you have your hands near the base when you place the birds on the stand, IF they ever fall from it, don't expect them to want to go back on there again. IF it doesn't work, expand the base bigger and if you want to, use laminate on top of the base so you can clean the poo off easier.

They both love it :) It's doesn't rock or tip when they're all the way out, Bleu tends to want to stay in the middle of it and play with the toys attached to the top of it and lucy likes playing with the toy I put on the outer most branch :) Thanks for the idea about the laminate! I'll probably go get some this week! :)

Lucy is a whopping 68 grams haha and bleu is a porker at 275 grams but the tree hold surprisingly well, I have a long screw that goes up through the center of the tree up to about that knot on the bottom. I'm definitely going to put a larger base on the next one I make :) I'm going to use a larger branch and have my dad help me (handy man haha) so it will be quite sturdy :) I think Bleu will like it better, the branches are ok for him but they're more suited for Lucydoodle haha

Good job! I've made many playstands from branches. The birds seem to like the naturalness of them. Plus, the varied thicknesses are great for their feet. Your birds are lucky fids.:)
