Is this filter safe?

Unless someone else here has exactly the same Air Purifier and has already made the call themselves and knows the answer, then the only way to know for sure is to call the manufacturer directly and ask them if it contains any Teflon or other Fluorine compounds that are lethal to birds, such as PFOA's, PTFE's, etc. Sometimes they will be able to tell you if they are "Bird-Safe", but most of the time you have to ask them directly whether or not they contain any Teflon.

I use the Veva 8000 Elite Pro filter (on Amazon) and I am happy with it. I haven't used that model that you posted, but it is very good that it does not produce ions and it is good that it has a hepa filter. I suggest reading reviews on Amazon and make a mental note to avoid any that people complain about burning up or giving off a plastic smell over time etc.

Actually, I do have that same exact filter - we use it in our bedroom, and we have the larger rectangular version downstairs, right by the bird-cages. It's pulling air in, not putting any chemicals (like ozone or UV or ion particles) out.

Been using both since early September. As far as filtering air devices, these are absolutely fine from my directly observed experience. We use them in addition to the range hood and an open window for ventilation as an extra precaution when cooking produces smoke or such.

However EllenD's advice on checking with the manufacturer specifically about PFOA's, PFTE's, Teflon, Fluorine is always good advice to follow routinely when purchasing anything that off-gasses, heats up, or anything like that though.

I've PM'd you the above as well, just to get the answer to you more quickly.

Just an update, I messaged the company and they said this:

"Thank you for reaching out to our support team. No, our air purifiers do not use any teflon, but use a true HEPA filter and activated carbon filter. We hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any other questions."

Appears it is safe, then.
