I did not realize how important platforms were for parrots inside the cage until a PL class. Now Rosie has one and she spends lots of time standing on it. If I were more adept with wood I would have made one that is larger. They serve the birds need to relax the feet and get off the perch. Here is a good photo:

Thanks, SB! That's a fantastic idea, it will probably prevent problems like arthritis from occuring. I'll try that.

Thanks SB, you always coming to our rescue.......
Been searching for one, no luck, must be safe wood.
Was told to let Mishka walk on the floor, good for them.
Thanks for sharing

Does anyone know where I could find these or is clever enough to make one?

I KNOW JUST ASK CRAIG............ LINKY'S HUSBAND
HE CAN MAKE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING

Thursday I will be passing my supplier, and see if they have any thing similar that I could get for Mishka

Di I am certain that a hardware store would be able to make one for you, ask you have nothing to loose.

Platforms are the best, my husband has made 3 for our Poncho(quaker) his cage is very big and stands 8ft tall so they are on different levels going up the cage and he spends a good part of the time travelling to one platform to the next and each platform is used differently, one is actually his bedroom, the other is where he goes to have some serious conversations with his feet..CUTE!! Anyway they are pretty simple to make, but please check the wood first to make sure it is safe.

I have a platform in Ozzys cage and he refuses to get on it. So its pretty much just become a table for his toys. If he absolutely has to get on it (to get a toy I 'accidently' put in the middle for example) he runs like he is walking on hot coals. He spends 90% of his time in his cage standing on his rope perch. Such a picky bird.

Oh thank you thank you cowboy Mike. Will reimburse all cost involved and more for your time. I now have two cages so two platforms would be wonderful. I just took some measurments in the cages and 4" by 8" would be fine, the 8" would be the length that attaches to the cage. Is it too difficult to make the mount the screw and bolt type (I guess that is what it is called)? I know Ant. would be happy and greatful too in her time of sorrow. You are fantastic!! Here is a photo of one I saw that looks nice. What do you think?

Oh Mike you are an absolute darling cowboy.....
So kind of you to offer to make them.
Sorry so much on my mind lately I forgot to mention that our hardware store would be willing to make the platforms for me, using spruce/pine plank and cut to size.
I am truly touched by your offer

Hello! Great setup for your grays! Was wondering how big your cage was and what type of cage? I've been researching greys and eclectus for a couple months now and will be acquiring a pal of my own in the near future. I'm trying to narrow down what would be good cage as far as price/size ratio. Thanks in advance for any advice/recommendations you can send my way :)

I don't know what tools you have access to mike but it shouldn't be that hard to do the bolt and nut mount style. You would just need the bolt and get a drill bit that is slightly undersized for the bolt. Then drill it out and screw it in. The bolt should create its own threads. Kind of like the manzanita perches.

JP That photo I included here was just to show platforms. I wish that was my cage and birds. It is set up so well. It is not mine.
