In my parents house
Parrots
A cockatiel, a bourke, and three budgies
Chrissy is dying. He was attacked by the family cat. I was cleaning the cage and had them in Jordan's cage, when it came time to put them in the other cage Chrissy flew away from me, the cat came out of nowhere and ran after him. I closed the door behind me, I don't know how she got in the room. She hit him twice, left a wound on his chest and under the left wing. I did the first thing I thought of. He landed on the floor by my feet, and I immediately picked him up. I closed the cage door so Elvis and Jordan couldn't get out and ran to the bathroom. I filled the sink with a Bit of water and rinsed out his wounds, I wrapped him in a paper towel and held him there till the bleeding stopped, then I put him back in his cage. I then called every vet in the area, but none of them would take him in today, or ever. Only 1 would take him in, tomorrow, but I have no one to drive me, not to mention he'd probably die over night. I've been busy getting some last photos of him, and some last group photos. I have one more photo to get but I might never get that photo. Has anyone seen that one photo I posted of Elvis? The one where he is stretching? I've got a photo of all my birds doing that, except him and Jordan. I need to get that photo. Also, I'm thinking of the day I bought him, I'm so emotional right now. I'm crying as I type this. I can barely see the screen.
I don't want him to die, he's so young.

What happened with your bird, did he survive? Just guessed it doesn't necessarily mean he must die if cat grabbed him, if he's not too badly injured he might live too...I know I once saved a pigeon directly from cats mouth. He was barely alive when I took him, yet he still lived, felt bad for leaving cat without his meal but couldn't look the other side when I saw bird is still alive... I know it's different story but don't know how bad that injury is...

He has 2 wounds, 1 just above his feet on his chest, and another one under his left wing. He's still alive right now.

Don't stress him out with photos right now. If you want a picture of him as he is, but don't put him in a pose, try to put him with another bird, get him to stretch a wing, anything. Right now you must take care of him and reduce the stress much as possible. You can make a "bird hospital" out of small box with soft blanket and some way to keep it very warm, and keep him as calm and quiet as possible, maybe a bit dark. The bird health forum has some advice of bird first aid and emergency care. Focus on making him comfortable and taking care of him and keeping him calm, and maybe he will be strong enough to pull through. You go be Parrot Doctor 2001 now! Come back if you have a question.

Actually, full stop. You posted this morning that you needed to find a place to get a parrot by 5, because he died from the cat attack. Now at 8 PM you're saying he's still alive but dying. And at 3 this afternoon you posted a photo of your new bird. I'm confused. What is the truth

I don't remember saying that he died from the attack. My sister did my iPod. Maybe she posted that, she wants my birds dead I can tell you that. But he is currently napping on a perch next to Elvis (my cockatiel and his best friend!) I did get a new bird, because all of the vets in my area wouldn't take him in, meaning he has no chance of survival. Sorry for the confusion, I'll put passwords on all my devices so my siblings can't post stupid, confusing things.

I have to agree, this is very confusing, all of it. I realize you are young and hopefully joined the forums to learn. It's a bit of a roller coaster to follow all your posts, after reading through them all again, I admit, I'm still confused. Chrissy had an accident with the family cat, my sincere condolences, I can't imagine how painful it would be to lose a beloved budgie so tragically, especially with another family pet, that's a cruel way for a bird to depart the world. Please take constant and extra precautions to make sure your birds are never allowed to interact with your four legged pets, no bird deserves that.

Do you mean to say that you actually got a brand new budgie this afternoon? That kind of makes this thread's title a little hard to comprehend.

You've recieved a warm welcome from our forum members and many of us are trying so hard to help both you and your birds (and your friend's bird). It would be nice to hear that you are trying to make life better for the winged creatures that depend on you for....everything.

Best of luck with all your birds, including the newest member of your family, I hope you have many years to share together.

I'm confused now too...so instead of taking your attacked budgie to a vet you bought a new one? And "old" one us still alive? Photo you posted stretching his wing doesn't look at all like he/she's not doing well so yeah lot of confusion here I must agree.
I need to share my experience with attacked and badly injured first budgie. I was a kid back then and had my first feather friend budgie who was really pretty and such a sweet heart. After some time I wanted a company for him and bought a love bird...and as I was 10 or 11 at a time I had no clue you can't put those 2 in same cage...while I was out with friends 1 day I heard bird screams froum our balcony and ran back home but it was too late, they had a big fight and poor budgie lost his beak. Yeah you read well! Love bird took of his upper side of the beak! Poor guy lived for a few days more, I have no clue now how we even fed him until he passed away. After that I never interacted much with this love bird and he always was prone to biting while after some time later I bough another budgie in different cage ofc and had them ever since.
Point of this story-understanding the pain when your feather friend gets hurt badly, showing what really bad injury means and trying to say it took time for me to want another bird after the death of the bird I really loved...they are all different, buying a new one won't replace old one but sure it doesn't mean not to get it ever again

So just a quick update, he survived the night!

I called to see is I could bring him in, they said next week!!! So I called all the vets again, none of them would take him in today. I hate the vets in my area, I hate them! There can't be any possible way I'd have to wait till next week, not to mention I don't have that kind of time!
I don't know what to do anymore.

I know of multiple "emergency" vets within a couple hours of you, and a few avian as well. I don't believe for a second that they all refused you.

Don't dish out crap and expect us to believe it's chocolate.

I only called the ones within 1 hour of me.
Also, my grandfather is leaving in an hour, so I'll have no one to take me. So I have nothing more to do.

This whole matter is beyond distressing as you are posting different things on multiple forums.

Why would you say your sister "wants your birds dead"?

Where are your parents in all of this? Why aren't they involved?

It seems to me that you are doing everything possible to push the blame for this onto other people rather than recognizing you are the owner and YOU are responsible for the bird.

You live in the United States so there must emergency care vets that will take care of the bird. Even a regular vet can administer an antibiotic to a budgie when necessary.

What is being done for this poor budgie at this point in time?

I have to agree with faerybee. I had an emergency situation with a budgie recently, and the emergency vet here (in my tiny tiny city) was at least willing to get pain medication to the little guy to help him out until the avian vet was open.

I hope Chrissy is okay.

Hi,

You've been sending some confusing messages, so I understand people are suspicious now.

Nevertheless, if your bird is in pain, it needs help immediately.

Could you post a picture of Chrissy as she is now? Don't touch her, or upset her, which may cause stress.
Just a picture and we may see how serious the wounds are, and how the bird looks.

My parents are at work, and they are involved, when their home. I beg them to let me take him to any vet, no matter how far away, they just tell me "it isn't worth it".

And my sister does want them dead, she hates my birds because of how loud they are.

Emergency care vets, the only places I haven't called.

Currently he is kept away from the others, in a cardboard box. (One that has holes in it.) I put food and a small water dish in the box, trying to keep him calm and quiet. I'm trying my best, ok?

I've been giving you explicit advice on another forum.
However it seems you are expending more time posting about the situation than actually doing anything productive to care for the budgie.

You've been advised to keep the bird quiet, put it in a hospital cage, treat the wounds with Betadine or Iodine and find an emergency clinic that can administer an antibiotic as cat saliva is toxic to budgies.

Saying "there is nothing more I can do" is a big cop-out.

How old is your sister? Can't you find a friend to drive you to the vet?

My sister is 13.

I have no friends.

I don't want to stress him, so I've been leaving him alone. I check on him occasionally to make sure he's ok.

I'll be off the forums for a couple hours, I've got babysitting to do, homework, and a bird to check on.
