Please see video... if anyone has any questions feel free to ask away. I need to disconnect for now but I promise I will get back to everyone when I can... thank you so much for caring.

You are a beauty, in mind, heart, and face. Wow. It's a pleasure to 'meet' you.
I can't find words adequate to praise and support you.
This *IS* an amazing community.
Anonymouse Donor... thank YOU. It's a credit to this site that I can imagine many who may have done this. Wow.
Yay, Team TERRY... he was given every chance, and left the world (as we know it) LOVED and CARED ABOUT.

Oh my, I'm so sorry. What a stressful, heartwrenching thing to go through, for both you and Terry. He was definitely a fighter.

I really cannot find the words to express how thankful I am for you and what you did. There are not many people left in this world that would even care enough about a little hurt parakeet to even feed him or give him water, let alone take him in and rush him to several vets, make him a hospital cage, and then to OK an almost $500 procedure to give him his only chance at survival, well this took a special person with a big heart. I hope you know how rare it is to find a person like you in this world, and I hope you know how much I look up to you and admire you, and I can promise you that this post is going to be FLOODED with people posting in tears...

As far as trying to save Terry, yes, you not only did everything you could and your avian vet did everything he could, but you both went far above and far beyond...As I said in my prior post I am 37 years old and I got my first pet English budgie at age 6, he was bred by my mom and hand-raised by my mother and myself. He lived to be 18, and I started breeding and raising my own baby budgies at 16 and continued up until the beginning of last year. So I have a very good understanding of budgie anatomy, physiology, and medicine. They are very small, they have little blood content, and they have very small airways and respiratory systems. All of this makes any and all anesthesia and surgery very difficult, as blood loss and breathing issues during the anesthesia are commonly responsible for their deaths. And I'm also willing to bet that the prior owner let this go for so long that the fractures in Terry's leg had become internally infected, and that infection had no doubt started to spread. So he had a mountain against him, but it was his only chance at living and the absolute correct choice was made by everyone.

Once again I cannot thank you enough for what you did for that little budgie, I promise you that not only myself and everyone here on the forum know how special what you did is, but Terry also knows...

I am so sorry, Sarah. You are an incredibly beautiful person for caring so deeply, and I thank you for creating a magnificent video. Rather than relying on impersonal text, you have brought her plight and your essence to life.

Powerful words and sentiment can effect great change. I hope folks viewing your passion will be encouraged to advocate for downtrodden animals with renewed vigor. That would be a respectful and enduring tribute to Terry.

Sarah, you are a beautiful soul. Skittles and I send you hugs. You did everything you could. Terry passed knowing he was loved. In the end, its knowing you were loved and that you loved that matters.

May I just say that I feel very close to you all, right now. I treasure our community so much.

Thank you. It says so much about you that you did this for Terry. No matter the outcome you made the world a better place.

Oh Sarah I'm so sorry. You did so much for little Terry, and you made the best decisions, despite the outcome that was beyond anyone's control. Dr. Goodall sounds amazing. The world needs more not only knowledgeable, but compassionate avian vets like him. Hugs to you.

Thank you so much everyone. I did want to let you all know, the lady is surrendering his cage mate to me and I have a cage all ready for him to pick him up this week. The quarantine period is going to be difficult, but we will figure it out. I've had a lot of local people express interest in adopting him so it will only be a matter of improving his diet and working on introducing toys before he'll be ready for his forever home.

A second beautiful deed.
If I lived near you, I would bring you a cake!
You are what's best about people.
I want to be like you when I grow up, and I'm retired already!

Picked up the carrier from the vet today and balled my eyes out in the vet office. The manager came over and hugged me. I told her it's been a rough week for losses....

Tomorrow night I pick up Terry's cagemate. I can't wait to give that little guy all of the love and attention he wants. I'll keep you all posted.

Thank you, and thank all of you who helped Terry. A budgie is two pounds of parrot in a two ounce body, and I cry when I see them in pet stores for sale cheap. Many treat them as disposable birds, not "real parrots" but they are so much bigger than they look on the outside. I feel better about people tonight.
