So folks don't have to wade thru the other thread, Salty as of 11:00AM 12/22 was sitting quietly in his cage, after having a peanut ( out of shell), a piece of banana with pain med on it, and a few pellets. He still has a problem to open his beak fully, but I think that's more because its painful then a physical limitation. Last night, believe it or not, he was eager to do some training and we went thru a half dozen of the easy tricks that don't involve him having to open his beaky too much. Tricks like turning circles, rolling over , shaking hands, doing the pole dance he did, and was begging to do more. Going thru his big yellow hoop was no problem, but the trick where he does it by himself was too painful.
He is getting an early X-mas present tonight, I got him a large diameter manzanita wood sleeping perch ( like 3" dia).
On behalf of Mrs Wrench ( Geri) and Salty and myself, a big big 2016 Holiday THANK YOU for all the prayers and special thoughts. I was amazed by all the attention this small green bird engendered - even my boss, the stone faced Mr. John R. kept asking how he was. Salty is not 100% out of the woods yet but confidence is pretty good. I am going to take up his default thread for further status, so we don't clutter up the board.
