Jim, my friend, this ones for you.

I said I would update another thread but I have since discovered how to join videos so I thought one thread, one post to cover it all would be best.

This video start with how to begin clicker training except I don’t like clickers cause you never have one handy when an unexpected positive behavior happens that you want to reward (talking, for example). This is called charging the clicker. This can be used to introduce birds to new objects as well.

The second part of the video shows how to apply clicker training by teaching target training. Targeting behavior, as with some other behaviors you might want to train, starts with shaping the behavior. Little bits at a time. This video demonstrates this wonderfully.

It also demonstrates outright some challenges you encounter in this type of training and what to do about it.

Lastly, I am reposting my video on how to use target training to teach recall flight. As well as the addendum showing how to teach a bird to fly AWAY from from you, which can be a small challenge.

I’m no Barbara, parrot wizard, or [insert any assorted camera savvy dude] but I hope you find his helpful! Parker and I really enjoyed it. And hey, it’s totally free!

Loved the videos, Chris! Great how to. Very clear instructions.

I'd been beating myself up over my procrastination, since I'd intended to make a few target and flight training videos. But now I don't have to! See? who says there's nothing to be gained from procrastination? Lol!

And let me not forget to thank Parker, who helped demonstrate your techniques admirably!

High praise indeed thank you both :)

Stephen, please DO make them and post them! Ain’t nobody got a monopoly on this, and all your videos are so entertaining! :-D . I’d especially love to see your instructional video on teach to fly away from you. I know I posted a little something on it but it’s a massive response time for Parker and could use guidance on taking it to the next level :)
