Just got back from Dr. L's and Zilla is PERFECT!!! :D:D:D I always thought she was, but now Dr. L thinks so too!

Her liver and kidneys are working very well, and have shrunk back to the normal size, the asper is totally gone! We will get the blood test results next week, but according to Dr. L she doesn't expect anything to be out of the "norm"

Dr. L says she is the picture of health now for an OWA her age!

She has gained 27 grams, from 350 to 377, but is NOT fat and she did not suggest a diet change, except no more eggs at all. Apparently eggs have too much cholesterol, so instead she can have chicken, fish, cheese, or yogurt as a treat in moderation (like once a week or so)

Zilla was wonderful once again and didn't rip anyone's fingers or faces off, but was so happy to be back home in her cage!

This is the news I was hoping for, and I so needed it this week! :D It's like a HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

Oh im sooo glad shes doing well! You sure have been good for her! Great job, Amanda!

Oh there are just NOT enough jumpy happy faces for me to express how thrilled I am for you and Zilla!!!:jumping40:jumping40:jumping40

Does this mean there maybe a green man in your very near future!?

I really have to crunch the numbers. I want the little green man so so bad, but I also would have to get him a cage and perches, and he is expensive!

I know there are people who may disagree but honestly with the way your and my lifestyle is we do not need giant expensive cages. If they are out like mine mostly all day unless I run errands or they are going in it to eat and sleep it just isn't necessary.

Not required to answer of course but what is he asking if you don't mind saying? I mean it is not a newly weaned baby. How old is he? You might be able to get a better deal with him knowing what kind of a home he is getting, it never hurts to ask!:)

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY YAY YAY YAY YAY YAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! I am so relived for you! Thank goodness all is ok! :D

They are asking $1300.00 for just him, then a cage is 300 to 400 depending which one I choose. He is younger, but not just weaned. I think 2 years old, but I would have to ask to make sure.

I'm gonna go visit again early next week. Wouldn't do any good to go over the wknd since the owner doesn't work the wknds.

Wow 1,300 is high maybe your area but holy smokes I can get a weaned baby for 900.00 here from a great breeder. She is a friend of mine and that was my price before we were friends. Ask him if he can do a package deal if you buy the cage from him as well. Now I do know stores don't have typically too high of a mark up on cages due to too much internet competition but again worth asking.

I have considered trying to find a breeder near here, but this little boy kind of chose me, so I'm not sure a different bird would be "the one"

I think I am going to try to work something out with Brian on this little guy, I'll just have to talk to him when I go to visit, eeerrr buy Zilla's food this next week...:54:

As Brady is sitting on my leg making goo-goo eyes at me I would say yes it is wonderful to be "chosen" I also really feel that this is the right boy for you!:)

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the recovery Zilla has made in such a short time! Dr. L was a bit shocked too, but the tests and scans don't lie! I fully expected a new special diet for her liver and kidneys and more meds for the asper.

Now (weather permitting) I will be taking Zilla with me to visit the bird hut and meet the little guy and see if it looks like they might possibly get along.

Oh, wait, she is in need of a pedicure, her nails are getting a bit long, so there is a reason to take her with me! :D She also dearly loves Brian and would ride around on his shoulder all day and chat with all the other birds!

Great news Amanda! All of our prayers have been answered! You must be floating on cloud nine. So happy for you!

Sounds like things are going well for you. Congrats on the test results!
Hope you can make a score on Zilla's roommate! ;)

Congratulations, Amanda! Your love and care for Zilla has been so wonderful :) I really hope it works out with the eclectus, too!

Way to go Zilla!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amanda, that is wonderful news for you both. It is a positive way to end a pretty rough week for you. I hope that you are able to bring Zilla's new little friend home soon.
