Yesterday afternoon while doing our normal walk around the house, showing her things (she is very leery of anything new or that she hasn't seen a lot so I'm trying to do this every afternoon until she is more comfortable.) She was on my forearm and we were headed to the sliding door she likes to look out and see what's going on in the world. Sassy was on the arm of the chair and wanted a scratch so I stopped and scratched her with my other hand and Zilla was at first intrigued and wanted to see Sassy closer, so I slowly moved her closer and Sassy wanted to smell Zilla, but Zilla wanted to taste Sassy. All Sassy saw was open beak coming at her head so she ducked away, Zilla wasn't in attack mode, she was just wanting to see what Sassy was and maybe taste her fur or whiskers at this point, but Sas was having NONE of that! I moved Zilla back away from Sas and gave Sas one more scratch before trying to move on to the window, but now Zilla was in jealous/pissy mode and pinched my arm! Keeping in mind she has never hurt me, even when I wrapped her in a towel and shoved meds down her beak, she has never even left a mark on me! This time there was a small mark on my arm so I fingered her beak between my thumb and first finger and told her "NO" and took her back to her cage put her on it and walked away without saying another word!

Then she did the whole PO'd zon thing, flared tail, stretched out neck with fluffed up feathers, swinging head and turning her neck all different ways, wings out about 1/2 way, pacing and eyes pinning while screaming at me. This only lasted about 6 or 7 minutes, but I was glad I walked away. I had the thought that if I had stayed close enough she might have jumped on me! This is the first real zon display I have seen from her, but now I know she can and will do it!

Now I need to start working on the jealousy issues. Do I just keep doing what I am doing? Or is there a better way?

I'd say your bird is feeling better... and you did the right thing by ignoring it and walking away.

HAHAHAH, Amanda, I'm sorry, I couldn't help but laugh. Yes, I totally agree with Mark and Scott, Zilla must be feeling pretty good. :D

It's normal for them to get 'worked up' over seemingly nothing. And yes, you did the absolute right thing by putting her up and leaving her 'let out her steam'. My Hunter behaves like this every once in a blue moon, and I call it 'doing the Stevie Wonder' because of the way she swaying and moving her head about. :D

Wendy, I was laughing too! I just couldn't help it! I went around the corner into the kitchen where she can't see me, but she still heard me and I think it made her even madder. It only lasted about 6 or 8 minutes and then she was fine, but I waited like 15 before going to talk to her again just to make sure she was over herself!

In a lot of ways it made me feel good to know she is a normal zon and does the same things other people say their zons do, cause I know she is feeling better, the love and meds are working! YAY!!! :D
