Funnily enough, this works fine from Tapatalk.
What do you mean? You can see the embedded player within the message body? And if so, do you see it in both test 1 and test 2 messages?

See it as an embedded video in Tapatalk and when I click on it, it fires up the browser and launches YouTube. I can see and launch both your videos in the two threads.
iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.

Ok, well that's not the correct behavior. At least in Firefox and Internet Explorer, the links should call a player applet right into the message body when the message is opened.

It's definitely the correct behaviour for Tapatalk though, that's what I'm saying. It may give Admin a little more to go on when they investigate.
But yeah, standard desktop browser functionality is broken.

And it seems to be broken only for certain forum members. Thanks much for the input :)

The issue is that you guys are using the 'short' URL and not the 'long' URL.

Share - Options (below link) - Long Link - Copy and paste...

Here's the difference in the links...

Good guess... but sorry, Monica, that's not it, as you can see from the test I've posted.

I stand corrected.... I forgot the "watch?v=" part ;)

Thanks Monica! I greatly appreciate your observation and solution :)

What's strange is that the short URLs used to work fine prior to the forum software upgrade. I guess the developers of the new software version coded it this way, though. Unless of course it's settable by the forum administrators.

One problem with this behavior, however, is that all of my archived video links are in the short URL format. As such, they have all been relegated to dead text strings. Since they're no longer even clickable, I'm sure very few people will bother to copy and paste them to a browser address bar

Test: FF

Private and NOT embedded link.

That is so weird, the long NOT embedded link are working in "embedded mode".
For some weeks ago that had given a link and not embedded video.

THANKS MONICA!! :) :40:

Thinking about it further, I'm betting that forum admins are able to add new/additional wildcarded domain strings that will trigger the embedded player applets. So hopefully they'll add in YouTube's short URL format again. Maybe it reset to the default of only YT's long URL when they did the upgrade. I guess we can wait and see if they'll fix it.

I don't know why it works that way, but hey, at least it works!

I noticed it as well! You can also use the URL in the Address Bar, although sometimes that contains more "gunk" that may not be required, and I don't know if it would mess up the embedding feature or not. Haven't tried it....

It'll probably be an 'on-going' issue for years to come... every time the forum software is upgraded. Happened on another forum with pictures. With the way you could "attach" an uploaded photo into the post, it would show up in the post rather than uploaded and then having to click the image to enlarge... well, forum was updated, and that feature was lost. All images uploaded in that manner were 'dead'. Some years later, the forum was updated yet again, and the images worked! However, all images that were uploaded between the times it worked were then dead. A major pain...

Anyway, glad it fixes the issue!

In fact we are using vBulletin in Sweden too, and we have Version 4.0.6 (newer btw) and we never have this problem with upgrading.
But if you put up a script to YT links (very easy) we can use the full embedded version links and this will solve the problem for ever.. (and we get more options too)

Or fix so the forum can handle:
