Yellow shoulder Amazon maturity

Mango is approaching a year old and I was wondering when his hormones will start in? I have noticed he is getting more yellow on his face, when will his adult colors be in?

Sexual maturity occurs between 4-6 years old in amazons, so he's still much too young to experience any hormone-driven behavior. As for his facial colors, they will change and spread (into the green) throughout his life. My mom has pictures of her DYH when she first bought her, and her yellow was similar to Mangos. She is now 40+ years old, and it's all the way down her neck, and spreading on her back. When we adopted Kiwi 6 years ago, the blue on his front was barely visible. He now has a nice splash of blue, and his yellow has spread down his throat. It's a very interesting "evolution" to watch how an amazons color spreads over the years.

I 2nd watching your zons colors change as they grow older. Take lots of pictures, i wish i'd taken more. My YN hen is starting to look like a DYH.

I wonder how much yellow he is going to get on his head. I see pictures of yellow shouldered amazons with varying degrees of yellow, some having as much as a dyha. His colors are so bright and vibrant especially in the sunlight.
