I have read that yellow napes are the best talking Amazon species. I have also read that female are less aggressive when they are in their hormonal stage. If I buy a female baby YN and have it socialize with the my family will still remain a friendly bird after she matures into adulthood? Could I allow the potential YN around my other smaller birds? Does the female speak as well as the male version? I currently plan to get a Blue Crown next year but the following year I would like to add my first big medium bird. I am strongly considering a YN female. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Peace to all.

YN... YC and DYH Zons are known to be the best talkers.

Female Zons are less aggressive on maturity, than Males. Most do go back to being friendly again when they have gone through their hormonal stage!

Yes, and yes, you can't go wrong with a hen YNA. Early socialization with a good family environment is the secret for a great well adjusted life long companion. You will learn to work out the hormonal seasons and they get better with age.

Thank you Henpecked, I always enjoy reading your posts. I believe that you have the authority on Amazons, with all due respect. I also love your aviator since I feel like I am big kid @ heart. I have seen your videos on youtube and always smile seeing the interaction between you and Jake. My flock will be extended to 5 birds with the new member being the Blue Crown. I have to somehow convince the wifey that the Amazon is the final piece missing in my life. Peace to all.

your very kind, i'm just trying to help a birdie out. My avatar is me and my mother's zon who raised me ,LOL, jaunita was a very special bird who changed my life for the better. PS that picture was taken in Guatemala in Dec of "59. So i'm kind of dated. Truth be known that was my first tricycle for my birthday. My dad "smuggled " that in on a Army chopper from the "states" because you couldn't find one locally.
