Just wondering what kind of natural treats my guy would like, as in woods to chew, fruits, vegetables etc. He has a good diet and I know some things he likes but looking for ideas to help diversify.

Hi! its good that you want to try new treats! Its very good to change things up every once and a while. Variety is very good.
Many parrots love the taste of ginger, but not to much. Make sure to peel and slice. Parrots love spicy so mild peppers are fun to. If you don't mind a mess, beets and pomegranates are a tasty and colorful.
Nuts are very fatty, so they should only be used as rewards or treats. Brazil nuts and pine nuts are a favorite for many. Just make sure to get raw, unsalted. Hope this helped!
Have a lovely day!

Willow is safe.
Mine like cooked butternut squash, and sugar snap peas in pod, bell pepper seeds and all and red hot chili peppers. Black berries, and fresh cherries when in season. They like cranberry too and that's in season.

Mine loved destroy an artichoke with spines cut off tge leaf tips, but I'm not sure how much was eaten.

I cook plain oatmeal, lentils, quinoa, legume they like all that too.

My BFA isn't a serious wood chewer but has hearty appetite!

Some of Gonzo's favorites are plain cooked oatmeal, a variety of cooked beans including garbanzo, pinto, and lima, green peas, black-eye peas, yams, sweet potato, pear, melon seeds, banana, whole grain spiral noodles, apple, grapes, pomegranate seeds.

Treats include pieces of almond, walnut, bits of whole grain bread with seeds, a few plain Cheerios, tiny piece of low-fat/salt string cheese weekly.

First an important side note: If your Yellow-headed or Double Yellow-headed Amazon is less than five years old, you need to have a Hatch Certificate. Why: Your Parrot is classified as an 'endangered' Amazon and such documentation is required and is to follow the Parrot for its lifetime. If your Amazon is 5 to 10 years old, you should work to have as much information regarding its history as possible. Have your Avian Medical Professional include such documents as part of your Amazons Medical File!

Your Amazon is from central to southern Mexica and Northern Central America. Web Search common Veggies and food types in that region for a cross-section of foods that would be commonly available.

Take the time to read the Amazon Sub-forum here on Parrotforum. Both Stickies at the very top of that Sub-forum contains excellent information for the safe love and caring for an Amazon. Within the I Love Amazons --, Thread is a segment that speaks to the foundation of an Amazon's Diet. Vastly limit Sunflower seeds and Peanuts as both contribute to issue with Fatty Liver.

Welcome to Parrotforum and the Wonderful World of Amazons!!!
