Valentino - Red Fronted Macaw - Hatched August 12, 2012
I am taking the time to learn about other species I have not had exposure too and am in the attempt to learn about the Yellow Collar macaw.

I have experience with Illiger's macaw and Noble Macaw. I love how the Severe looks but I think a Severe is too much for my partner to handle. One mini macaw I have not had experience with is the Yellow Collar.

Please if anyone on the form has experience or owns a Yellow Collar macaw I would love to hear about how these mini macaws are as pets. I have plenty of time for research and learning about these special mini macaws.

No experience but I just brought mine home a few days ago and she is a jem! Very curious, smart, and a bit of an attitude but has gotten on well with the 7~8 ppl she has meet. Already taking head and belly scratches and is even tolerating my 6 year old. All birds are different of course but I rescued her from a bad place and she loves everyone!

Wow. That is amazing. Your yellow collar sounds like a wonderful parrot. It is my hope that down the line I will add a second parrot to our family. Right now I just received my baby RFM Valentino and today is day 5 him being in our home. He is amazing and brilliantly raised parrot.

I am doing my homework to figure out a good balance of species of parrot that work with RFM. I am wondering if mini macaw is truly the way to go or maybe should look into other species of parrot. I so love the mini macaw as I have lived with them for over 20 years. I miss having one but I think about having the RFM AND a mini macaw might not bring balance in our home.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with your YCM. I look forward to hearing more about your parrot and pictures. People on this board LOVE to see pictures of the parrots.
