Hi folks ..... Harry here!
You know that I am disabled and that I actually can use only one paw.
Therefore I never can sit on a regular swing.
But now mommy has made a swing for me!
Now I can also rock just like Toon.
Woeiiiiiiiii........ I like it so much.

Do you guys also like my swing?
Mommy has posted a How to posted in the forum: Do it yourself, so you can see how mommy has made this funny swing. :)http://www.parrotforums.com/showthread.php?p=606697#post606697

On my new swing.

I didn't know Harry was one-legged! He looks so healthy and happy... I guess I just didn't notice. His eyes are so lively and beautiful, by the way.
And now he can do swing acrobatics, and enter the Parrot paralympics.
Just precious, Marileen.

Hi Jim,

Harry has 2 legs and he has al his toes.
But this is what happened.....
In 2000 I bought Harry ..... He was 5 weeks old and I have raised him by hand.
But when he was a few weeks with me , I discovered that he used only one paw,
and had grown skew. He also could not climb.
I took him to the Vet. There were x-ray's made and it showed, that when he was a small chick, he had
broken his pelvis, and paw.
The vet wrote to the breeder and told him what he had discovered.
The breeder said that he had dropped Harry as a small chick .
And that I had to bring Harry back and then would give me another Parrot .
WHATTTTTTT??????? I was very sad about these words!!!!!
I told him I would NEVER do that!!!!....... I loved Harry so much and could no longer miss him anymore. And I did NOT wanted my money back. It was not the money that I was worried about.....but I was worried about Harry.
He was (and still is) my baby......my child. I learned Harry to climb and what things he could do with his disability.
He has no pain ... ... but sometimes he is very tired because he always can use only one paw.
He has no strength in his bad leg and can not lean on it.

I have just made a few pictures , so you can see it. He does not lean on his bad leg, but lay it beside him.

He can't clean his head and nose in the ordinary way.
But he has also discovered a method to do this..
He hangs up side down on a nail from his bad leg and then he can clean his head and nose with his good paw.

In the evening he often lay down on my lap on his pillow. So he can rest well.
And he loves to rest like this with me.

What an amazing rescue.
I am so impressed with Harry. What a smart and sweet and beautiful... and lucky (to have been found by you!) fellow.
I'm in love with him.

Marileen, Harry's story is incredible, I am sorry he was injured as a chick but thrilled he found you so early in life, he couldn't have possibly found a better mom. Harry is amazing and what a handsome fellow! I love the swing you made. Thank you for sharing Harry's success story and all the beautiful photos.

Allee, I can't second that enough. I third it. I... I... infinity it!

After about 3 months of being home (so about age 5-6 months old) Perjo figured out some laws of physics. She figured out that the further out she reaches with her beak to grab the cage while on the perch, the further and longer she will swing on the perch. She started out swinging just slowly and only an inch or two, now she swings like crazy.

Harry is a handsome bird, and it is so lucky he has you! You should sooo nominate that boy for Pet of the Day! I love the swing, and that it has "chewable" ropes as well!

Harry has had a poor start but is so lucky to have such a loving and caring mom. Love the pics. :)

What a sweetie . You didn't give up on him, and I'll bet if the tables were turned, he wouldn't give up on you!
