Hey my fellows! I always drop in and out depending on my life events lol but I just wanted to update everyone on my new baby sun conure Milo! Not sure if any of you remember but when I first got my "hand-fed" baby, I brought him home in February and to my surprise he was pretty much a wild bird! You can see he was handled at one point but it was a very long while since that time.
BUT!!! Once I got over the shock of him tearing apart my hand on the 4th day of being home I sat back and decided to go ahead and start with taming techniques rather than bonding techniques like I did with my dear Kyro. AANNNDDDD as of 3 days ago I have trained him to willingly step up onto my hand without a single bite!! Now he gets right off once he gets his treat but it's fine!! I've been taking the smallest baby steps ever with any of my birds but it's paying off!!
We're finally moving forwards! It feels amazing that we are finally on the way to him having a happy life! I constantly need to remind myself not to push too hard because if I ruin all this work here I'd be quite upset lol my Kyro bird was the snuggliest little thing I've ever known! But he was actually hand fed(by me). So he wasn't ever neglected. So I need to make sure I'm patient and soon enough he'll at least let me get his pin feathers!! Molting season is so sad when you see them uncomfortable but you can't help them! =(( I have some videos! =D I'll post when I upload them to the YouTube!
Just a reminder for people who are in a similar situation! It gets better!! Never give up on the feather babies! They are just scared little souls and they don't mean it when they hurt your feelings. Battle them with love! It is the only way
