Parrots
Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
...Baby Bird started to make noise! I got them both breakfast, got him out of his house and put him on the rooftop and placed his brekky plate down, and came in here to fire up the computer..and I hear a series of whistles coming from the living room. But of course,as soon as BB saw me poke my head in,he stops :( It was sweet hearing him starting to vocalize :04:

Next time, try whistling back, but hidden. That will be really fun for about two minutes for you.

So, does this mean that you will be whistled at while you work? Yaaa, I know: lame.

Congrats !

I think another video is called for we sll want to hear BB too...thats Great you got to hear him sing at last :) Soon Amy will also be fluent in Cockatiel too and you wont know which of them is singing hee hee :)

...I'm finding out more and more, that Amy really LIKES this little guy :D I found her once again,on his rooftop, helping him eat HIS nummys lol..She just sat next to him, preen herself, while he chowed down, and BB is paying no never mind to her.
So now what? obviously Amy likes him..and it looks like he is tolerating her,he doesn't run off or try to 'attack" her < I don't think he'd get too far lol>.
Not even a week yet and things are looking pretty good for both of them..he is on my shoulder now, preening himself, and just let out a LOUD whistle...right in my ear!

Jim

Hee hee you will need ear plugs before long as they can really get some umph into their little whistle :) So glad that BB and Amy are getting on so well ...you picked the perfect little tiel buddy for Amy and you :)

Thanks! I think so too. Its been getting quite warm here now, spring has definitely sprung! going to be in the low 80's and sunny for the next few days..so I think tomorrow, I will see how he likes bath time. Amy just loves hers. Going to do what Wade did with Dusty, misting bottle while BB is on my arm.. I can already see white dander come from BB when he fluffs himself up and shakes.

Jim

Go BB, go! Hope he likes his shower 😁

Funny, I almost made a video this morning as Dusty alwas making some of his first sounds that are more like singing or whistling instead of the usual wild bird chirps or squawks. Maybe tomorrow he'll do more and I'll try to be ready.:grey:

Re: Yaaahhhhh!..I'm sorry guys

...but I just can't HELP about bragging about this little fella!

My buddy Joe came over, and we were at the kitchen table playing setback, and of course BB was with us..I put him on his portable perch, and he hopped off, walking around the table, finding crumbs from his scatter lunch..he picked up a card, started to chew on it .. NO BB! and he walked up to Joe,who he has only seen twice, and FLEW onto Joes shoulder lol..Poor Joe didn't expect that, nor did I lol.

Seems like Baby Bird is obsessed with being on shoulders. He was on his perch and I could see him "thinking". He'd squat down, like he was ready to take off, then stand straight..then squat again..then flapflapflap..only about 2.5 feet or so,but he landed ON my shoulder..not my chest..a very strong flier even being clipped.
He sat there, fluffed himself up..shook his booty :p..preened away, chirpped abit, nibbled my ear, then started to grind his beaky.
He readily gets on my hand or finger, even when he is in his house, but at times he does run away. I have no problems picking him up,he doesn't fuss about that or try to nip me.

He is eating very well, but still not out of his bowls, that I can tell. Sits in the middle of his dinner plate and chows down. He hasn't taken anything from my fingers yet. I tried an almond slice but he ignored it. and I can't really tell if hes going for his veggies. I know, I'm really excited at the progree he has made in such a short time, and still prolly expecting too much from him.
I am enjoying this little ball of fluff so much! and I'm thrilled that so is Amy,that was a big concern.

Time to go to work :(

Here is my plan for a new video..gonna give 'em reakfast and open their doors, and nonchalantly sit on the couch or recliner, camera hidden and watch a little tv..and wait...for Amy yo do her thing. Climb down to the floor and mozy over to Baby Birds house..and get her in the act!

But we all know whats gonna happen now, don't we? Of course we do!
She is just going SIT THERE..on her resting perch..MAYBE go to her nummy bowl to talk into it and laugh, and NOT go see BB
Not until I get tired of waiting that is..and I come into this room to play on the computer. Five minutes later I going to find her up on BB's roof, helping herself to his grub.

She thinks I don't know, but after 26 years, I'm wise to her little game..we'll just see who has the last laugh ;)
