Would Budgies and Parrots get on with eachother?

Hello,

I would like to ask if budgies and parrots would get on with eachother in the same 5ft cage. My parrot is an Eastern Rosella Parrakeet.

My Rosellas get on with all my little guys, but you do need to be careful with them, they can sometimes get a bit aggressive,

How long would i have to leave them in to be assured that they are going to get along, the rosella does not show any signs of aggression and the budgies are hand tame.

Is it just the one Rosella you have? The only time I would take keep my eyes on him is the breeding season.

I think it really depends on the individual birds. I'd house them next to each other for awhile and then if everything is ok, put them together for supervised short periods of time. I don't know how long it would take to be sure they are 'safe' together while alone.. again it depends on the birds and how they react to each other.
A lot of people would think this setup is crazy:
I had 1 budgie, 1 older lovebird, canaries and zebra finches houses together in a large aviary.. the canaries gave me the most trouble, surprisingly! They all had lots of time out of the aviary to free fly around my room, so I think that helped with any territory issues.
I did hand raise my finches and canaries so they behaved much differently.. the finches especially reminded me of my cuddly umbrella too' only MUCH smaller. Funny to have 4 birds perched on one finger
Watch them closely, don't want anyone to get hurt!

my teils and conure get along great outside their cages but I would never house them together - it all depends on the individual birds.

budgies are always parakeets, but parakeets are not always budgies. Also, I have personally known two budgies that "mimic human speech or other sounds".

Budgies are parrots, thats all I'm saying lol.

Yes, Peta i have one Rosella and i have two budgies. I have an indian ringneck but he is quite aggressive so i am not putting him in there.

At the moment my two Rosellas are in a large flight cage with 2 Linnies, 2 Tiels, 1 Bourke and until recently a red rump, (we had to take her out cos she was attacking everyone) Anyway they all get on famously. And they are all going into a large aviary. The Linnies are smaller than the Budgies

in your proflie thingy they are signatures or siggies for short you can use lots of different programs to creat them then in some cases photobucket to make them the right size then upload them if that makes since. I use scrap blog - it's an online program but you can use publisher paint photoshop, just about anything if you save it as a jpeg

Yep, go to "User CP" then "edit signatures", then upload from photobucket, or similar image hosting site. If you upload from your computer it will come up quite small. Try to keep it the same size as the ones you can see already on here.

Just keep an eye on them for a while before leaving them alone...

I have a YCA, a rosella just like yours and a tiel.The two last ones ignore eachother as the other doesn't even exist for them... (very polite...)

I tried a couple of times to put them together so they always have company but none of them wants that, they will go for each other both usually when they are sitting on their cages and I leave the room, I always had to run back hearing the screaming to separate them so I put their cages far enough(they are both not fully flighted).

I had the idea once to put them in the same cage(that was in the begining), God knows how the tiel came out with some feathers left on ( ), but although she is much smaller than the rosella , also quite small for a tiel, she will not loose a chance going for the other as well...

My rosella is also very teritorial, won't allow other birds in her cage, I once gave her a toy which also had a mirror, she became so agressive she nearly broke it to pieces,attaking it so severely .... I thought what if she will do so with my tiel, she will have no chance....So for my birds, better they stay far for each other....

My GCC was in a seperate room with my ekkie, and he used to jump off his cage and walk all the way to the tiels. So i put him in with them to visit them, and he liked it so much he used to walk there to their cage every time he was out. So eventually i put him in with them and he just loves it. Pikkie, the old grumpy man, jep, his 10 years old this year, he went into his old cage, and seems to like it more there, i guess he likes to stay a single birdie. He even grew some chest feathers
