Would a bowl of sunflower seeds be okay as a food source until I can get
a better mix tomorrow?

I usually use the sunflower seeds as a training tool but a family member
forgot his usual food when they went shopping.

I won't really have a chance to get him anything else until tomorrow now.

Yeh rice, peas, sweetcorn, peppers, chilli, salad, any veg in the fridge? Quinoa or pasta instead of rice?

I'd switch training treats from SF seeds also. :)

How come???

Any suggestions for alternatives?

Much better selection than just rice! Even though I was pointing to brown rice, nothing else in my house! As for sunflower seeds, many folks shy away from them because of their fat content. I believe a few are perfectly OK, because they are nutritious! Sunflower seeds that I use are very tiny compared to what you see in most stores! Pine nuts and walnuts are a good alternative, especially walnuts! Since nuts are important part of my daily diet, I always have a large selection on hand, storing the excess in the freezer!

I honestly don't think a day of sunflower seeds will do any harm at all but what you might do is spoil him and he may turn up his nose at his normal mix for a day or two after.

Personally, I'd take this opportunity to try some other healthy option, maybe something he's never had before.
