So it seems like bird people in my State have spread the word that I must be the person to help in re-homing their parrots!!! Sadly, in the past 2 weeks, I have been asked to help re-home:

-1 CAG
-2 Caiques
-2 Mayers
-2 Conures
-1 Eclectus

Seems like a lot in a very short period of time..... :(

Cakes - just a nickname given to caiques! ;) It confused me a while when people were calling them cakes instead of caiques.... even though, before I knew how to pronounce the species name I said "cakes" instead of "kye-eeks". I've seen some say "kikes", too!

Wish I could help birds out in need of homes!

I sent both families a message. Can you tell me any about them?

2 White-Bellied, the boy is 6 and the girl is 2. They don't really get along with other birds, might do best as only birds or live separated from other birds.

I can provide you with her email address and you can ask? She is most interested in finding a home for them and the rehoming fee to cover shipping charges and crate if any. it just cost me $250 to ship my 2 Caiques (flight, crate, cups, perches). I believed she was looking for $400 for the 2 Caiques + $250 towards shipping (if shipping).

I'm sure that an Australian hearing "ky- eek" would look at you rather strangely, I've only ever heard "cake", and that from "bird people" but caiques aren't at all common here in any case. Caiques are also a type of wooden fishing boat from the eastern Mediterranean, pronounced Kai-Yik.
